Not only is the reflecting pool green with algae, the blue paint/liner is already peeling off. I move to temporarily rename it as a living art installation, "Reflecting on Trump's Presidency." I was already laughing at their efforts to control the algae with H2O2 added manually, 1 gal at a time.

One good thing about H2O2 is it rapidly breaks down to water and oxygen with light exposure, but that also means adding a little at a time to a shallow popl in full sunlight is going to do a whole lot of nothing. And the lack of PPE worn by the staff pouring it in makes me think it was already very

dilute. To maintain an effective concentration to kill that algae bloom, they'd need it to start out pretty highly concentrated, which is also hazardous to handle. A living example of a little bit of knowledge is dangerous...very little, apparently.

Dammit, they're going up one more level. Psych! 🤣 Probably need it to be able to clip in their fall arrest harnesses out of their way when working. Or they're having fun being the stars of the show. They've probably never had such a cheerful audience on a job before. Saw a couple pausing for bows.

It also occurs to me once the letters are off, they probably have screw holes to repair that might take a few days to fill with something, dry, sand, whatever...I don't know what it needs to be patched.

A construction worker shouting "Let there be light!" as the Kennedy Center lights came on is perfection! They are a piece of out country's efforts to maintain democracy. Something for them to tell grandkids or grandniblings about, or just a story to tell some volunteer at their nursing home someday.

The construction crew is back with another truckload of scaffolding. They were greeting by raucous cheers. I hope they can get done before the next storm system comes through. Looks like it's getting windy there.

People on scene are reporting a double rainbow as the next wave of storms comes in. I've been waiting for this day as much as anyone, but good grief the live chats are full of impatient, conspiracy theorists. The workers aren't climbing a tall metal scaffolding with a thunderstorm coming in. This

isn't a conspiracy to do it under cover of darkness, or to intentionally delay. Let the workers be safe. Trump's feewings getting hurt seeing his name coming off things will be just as delicious tonight or tomorrow morning if weather delays keep happening.

And I think they might be realizing they built the scaffold one section too far to the right. They're going to need to build one more column. If they are as sarcastic as most crews, they'll take their 15 min break just before pulling off the 1st letter for dramatic effect.

I love how invested people are in watching a crew assemble scaffolding on live TV. I bet that crew is nervous having so many cameras on them, though. Can't afford the slightest misstep with any potential OSHA violations on hundreds of videos!

I'm back here. I got caught up in whatever mess AI is creating on Meta and they banned me from all of their platforms for a reason that makes no sense, won't show me what they think I said that qualifies for such a ban, won't let me appeal (I tried and they told me it has been over 30 days when it

a bunch of police departments suddenly get banned for their posts on drug busts, though. If I got banned for overuse of the F-word, I'd buy it. Anyway, I have a new account there, which is really me, but of course I have smart friends who are skeptical of friend requests from a new account. Some

texted to verify it was me. I have no way to contact people I only chatted with on messenger to warn them what happened. What a pain! We need some trust busting. When you lose access to meta, nearly all communication gets cut off. I just need more of my friends to move over here!

just happened today!), and I'm finding reports of this happening to huge swaths of users over the past month. I'm wondering if AI found old Mafia Wars posts, because it's the only thing that fits this. Facebook didn't give a reason, Threads did, and I don't use IG. I'm going to laugh pretty hard if

Biology lesson because even those intending well are getting things wrong. I'll do this over several posts and several days. I'll start with: at the time of conception, there are no germ cells. That is when the pronuclei of the sperm and oocyte join and form the single-celled ovum. It will take 1/2

2/2 about 30 hours for the first cell division to occur at which time the ovum becomes a zygote. It takes about 24 DAYS before primordial germ cells form in the embryo, and yes, those are destined to become oocytes. If we use germ cells at conception to define sex, there is no binary sex, it's null.

I do not believe there is a single person who truly believes it was anything BUT a Nazi salute. They are making excuses because he did the thing they speak of in hushed voices and know is frowned on by the world. They're still using dog whistles and he used the full on train whistle.

Maximum streeeeeeeeeetch. Yes, he is that long. He's clearly feeling warm and safe with his human home. His human just got home from Maui in time for this latest winter storm, so he's trying to keep me warm enough not to run away again.

I’m just gonna say hospitals should always and forever have a policy of masking. It’s where people go who are sick. And immunocompromised for a whole lotta reasons.

I'm just going to post an introduction. I'm a university associate professor who teaches gross anatomy and physiology, primarily. My research background is in the neurobiology of reproduction (how your brain regulates what your gonads do, and how your gonads regulate what your brain does).

You are up to date.
