Very ambitiously imagined I'd get through both Colin and Valtra tonight, but I'm tapping out =.=. Goal will be to finish the block out tomorrow so I have at least a few days for shading why am I doing this to myself damn my love of art and Triple Strike and Darkstalkers 🫠

I'm a little ashamed to admit the Street Fighter movie is a 10/10 video game to movie adaptation for me >_<. Top notch animations, the nods were cute but not overdone, and I haven't seen any reviews mentioning "Holy Hado, is the movie gay" but Holy Hado, is the movie gay.

I guess the one ding for me was that they treated every character with respect EXCEPT El Fuerte who they 100% did dirty, but I also understand there are only five players in existence who loved and mained El Fuerte in 4, so I get why they scapegoated my homie 🥲

I suspect getting an okay thing without any effort damages us psychologically and spiritually. It’s good to dream. It’s good to reach for things you can't obtain. And getting slop ports, slop art, slop whatever etc is quite directly limiting our creativity, our resilience, our abilities --

and yes, even our dreams. It’s already showing up in studies. I can’t imagine (but I’ll try lol) what the ramifications are longer term, but they can’t be good, and it genuinely makes me sad to think how kids can grow up without dreams.

having learned to ask AI rather than learn themselves? (And if you unironically say “AI will do everything for us!” I will create a new type of SAS called PAS (Punches as a Service) so I can hire someone in your local area to punch you, and good luck using AI slop to keep your precious face safe).

But the final Bad gets at a fundamental question of human existence, which is “getting everything we want on a whim is probably not good for us.” This goes beyond the “AI making an okay thing is ruining it for people who make the high quality thing” questions, which are also a problem.

And these spaces were already barely economically viable. As with game piracy, this will push devs toward F2P style games, which are…limited mechanically and creatively let’s be real. But I suspect the Badness has longer term implications.

Large enthusiast communities exist around decompiling games, and members spend years learning and developing skills to accomplish what AI can do (having stolen their work) with a “snap of their fingers.” What is the skill landscape of tech going to look like in 10 years when a generation grows up --

I now believe the speed is actually not even a feature. It’s Bad. Even ignoring the environmentalism, capitalism, copyright, billionaires are weird creeps etc issues, it’s Bad. Focusing on decompile specifically, the first Bad Thing are the obvious economic reasons.

Fast decompile (a thing that always existed but now can be done FAST) undercuts the ability for all levels of game devs (indie, double A, triple A) to make money off one-time payment models. This makes non-subscription, and non-F2P models less economically viable,
