Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

Went from an 8-hour round-trip big rock show Friday night, followed by 3.5 hours of sleep, to a Katseye-themed birthday sleepover for my kid and her 5 besties at a remote cabin. I am… exhausted.

It’s 3am and I’m home after driving 4+ hours to Atlanta and 3.5 hours back, all to experience the greatest goddamn machine of a rock & roll trio just one more time.

Maybe a top-10-ever song for me? (Speaking as someone who owns all their records and his solo stuff too…). An undeniable tune

Crowded House’s signature song “Don’t Dream It’s Over,” the fourth single from the band’s self-titled debut album, was released 40 years ago today. 📻 You can hear Neil Finn’s demo, before Mitchell Froom’s iconic organ part was added, on the 30th anniversary deluxe edition.

1: Thanks to all who have bought a copy of Imperatives. My crusty heart is warmed. 2: If you can repost this and/or share a link (doubleblackeye.com), I'd love it. This is a 100% DIY thing and I want to get this music into all the ears that I can, so any help makes a difference!

Challenging myself to translate a handful of very electric / effected songs to play an upcoming solo acoustic show, and wow this is difficult for such a slop-ass guitarist as myself

One of the Allies’ best WWII propaganda tricks was looping a short film of Hitler so that he appeared to be dancing idiotically. Anyway,

Anyone who dances like this doesn't need a ballroom—he needs a padded cell.

Fun Saturday watching baseball with the family, with brief interruptions by ads for The Department of War and Megan Fox talking about dick pills ⚾️ 🇺🇸

Def didn't see a discussion about the motives of a killer and the cruelty of the death penalty in the cards for the afterschool car ride with my almost-12-year-old today, but that sure was the thing that happened

It's been a pretty long couple of weeks, with a variety of stressors that have compounded and just feel like… a lot. But I had a couple of meetings this morning that found me downtown at just the right time to grab lunch to bring home from Good Golly Tamale, and at this moment, everything is good.

Good Golly Tamale is a funky little spot in the Old City. It started out as a cart the owner pulled around by bicycle. It's been brick+mortar for several years. They make, like, 7 varieties of tamale, also black beans and greens. It's impossible to consume these tamales and not be filled with joy.

Getting excited to make my biennial appearance on a stage to make music soon. It has also been suggested I do a solo stream of the new album from home at some point. Is this a thing people would watch? I maintain a safe distance from “content creator” stuff and wouldn’t want it to be seen as such.
