Hello to all my new mutuals! I should introduce myself. I’m Ben 👋 I’m a professional software and game developer. I also do sound design when I have time. My tools of choice are ➖ C# ➖ Lua ➖ Unity ➖ Godot ➖ PlayDate SDK ➖ Logic Pro I look forward to interacting with you all and see you around!

Is it just me or does live-streaming sometimes feel like human zoo exhibits. Especially if they aren’t playing a game or doing anything specific during a stream.

Unity continues to prove to me why I no longer will use it for future projects.

Report: Unity continues mass layoffs with 'abrupt' communications and 5am emails 'Unity must do better in how they treat their workers in hard times' www.gamedeveloper.com/business/rep...

If you let your phone slide between the center console and your seat. Give up. It’s over. That jawn is gone forever. I swear my phone comes alive specifically just to 360 no scope itself into that chasm.

Horrible game idea. A normal game but it has a tunic style manual of technical debt glitches from the devs. Like if u touch a wall after an enemy u still take damage.

Jeeez. I was actually thinking about getting one of these tables but now I am for sure finding another table company.

The boss isn't the market place Here is the boss explaining why they are gong to overproduce www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5Yo... Here is the boss firing people because his previous video was his idea and it was a bad idea... really bad - that was him not the marketplace www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO66...

With Balatro’s great success. The next 1-2 years will have a disproportionate amount of indie card games coming out. Kinda like how cozy games blew up after acnh and Stardew valley. Still deservedly so, cause they’re underrepresented and great genres.

Holey Moley. 500 followers! Thank you for the support! I love this game dev community on Bsky and I hope to show yall what I’m working on soon.

Love being a hybrid game dev. One day I’m programming just plain C# systems. Another day I’m scratching my knife set at home for foley assets.

A thread on colourblindness & #gamedev - If your approach to colourblindness is full screen filters, you're *doing it wrong*, and causing more problems that you're solving. If you see a game that has filters, they're doing it wrong. If you see a game that has a 'strength' slider - don't copy it.

My other popular opinion is that in-app purchases fucked mobile gaming. Yes, there are exceptions; I know them. But the whole “our game gets unplayable after a point unless you buy coins” thing just means that games are no longer fun and developers aren’t trying to balance playability any longer.

Worthwhile to be aware of this common tactic for infecting game developers with malware.

Godot Engine@godotengine.org

A malware loader, “GodLoader,” has been found exploiting the Godot runtime. This highlights the importance of only downloading software from trusted sources. Full details: godotengine.org/article/stat...

The vast amount of shamelessly ai generated slop we’re gonna see in all media formats in the next 5 years will probably bring up the value of human artists in their respective industries. Like the SpongeBob episode where Krabs turns the restaurant into a factory. Quality is quality. Slop is slop
