While I want the GOP to lose, I'm dreading the potential Democratic blue wave because I've seen what happens next. Yet while I'm pessimistic about our institutions, I'm not about humanity. An essay on why winning elections isn't the same as building a better world. www.patreon.com/jessiegender...

Sumo has been making excellent Demonschool (especially Namako) fanart for the last month. Let's thread it! The first gives Namako an appropriately y2k chunky digital camera.

@mayor.nyc.gov This is not right. This is the first real direct fight against the anti-Trans EOs and to say it falls short of what is the bare necessity to combat that is a huge understatement. Capitulation to the oppressor means death to the oppressed. You are better than this. I know you are.

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

1. In a move that is likely to be seen as capitulation to Trump, EITM can confirm that Mamdani's first ever trans direct care clinic will deny care to those under 19 years of age, the age from Trump's anti-trans EOs. It is a far cry from his pledge to "use every tool" to fight capitulation.

If my biggest worry about inflation is the size of my Dunkin' donuts, admittedly my life is not as difficult as most. However, those donuts are the only thing that gives me joy in this life and goddammit I would love to have a jelly donut that's not smaller than my fist.

I know it's just more standard corporate speak from an out of touch executive who sees their work as purely for entertainment and revenue, but it's demoralizing. We went from cool, gamer uncle CEO who wears jeans to work to cool, tech-bro aunt who wears sick kicks to a Bloomberg tech interview.

4 mins in, she talks about trying to make the new Xbox affordable under the AI-induced hardware and memory crisis, along with rising costs across the board. A crisis in which the company she works for is one of the BIGGEST contributors to the shortage and price increases.

I'm really amused by the idea of someone finishing this in their living room before the actual church is finished in real life. Looks like they both cost about the same though! 🤢🤮🤑

My boyfriend, at the door with a bindle over his shoulder: "TimTam, I don't think I can do this. Ever since Mina the Hollower came into your life, I don't know who you are anymore." Me: "Mina..." Him: "Please don't." Me: "...the Hollower.' Him: *sniff* "Where did we go wrong?"

Zohran Mamdani has only been the mayor of NYC for 6 hours and the Knicks have made it to the NBA Finals for the first time in 132 years. Tell me again communism doesn't work. 🫗

LocalThunk is a brilliant, incredibly talented developer. Not everyone is LocalThunk. Hell, he didn't even think Balatro was going to be a success. He made it for himself/friends and was surprised at it being so popular. The money came out of that passion. Money can't create passion out of nowhere.

And then when it doesn't, they're going to blame developers and staff and lay a bunch of people off in their ignorance. Notwithstanding the current economy, where people can barely afford anything let alone games.

I appreciate KS surfacing just how much of this friction and censorship is due to payment processors and I wish more companies would put this stake in the ground rather than screwing over artists. If every company did this, payment processors would have to buckle.
