A three game ban for what Dowman did is a joke. There is a fundamental problem in the English game with not punishing actual violent challenges and over-punishing petulant reactions to violent challenges.

I didn’t like Arteta having a go at Max. Can understand being frustrated and that needing to be a learning moment for him, but think he might feel differently having slept on it and watched the replays.

I am still fuming about that whole sequence... Dowman got kicked several times before and in that sequence too. That was purposely violent challenge on Dowman. And after him lashing out, they ganged up on 16yo. And ref did f all all game to do anything about it, but was happy to send Max off.

I dunno man, I think referees should probably be sanctioning the dangerous, out of control tackle as much -- if not more -- than they should the petulant but unimpactful swing out in response.

That’s disgraceful officiating and disgraceful play from Fleetwood. Easy red on the tackle that Dowman responded to. And something that wasn’t a red for Palmer this past weekend.
