I'm not gonna victim blame; instead, use this as an object lesson. Have multiple backups, at least one on-site and one remote. You can't trust in one alone. And while they keep pointing out this is 50TB of data, that's like 4-5 hard drives at most. It's not an impossible ask.

Wild fact that I learned today. One of H.P. Lovecraft's closest friends (James Ferdinand Morton) was an anarchist, Bahai, antiracist activist who was in NAACP (and wrote a book called The Curse of Race Prejudice), and learned Esperanto because he was an internationalist. (also buds with WEB Dubois)

The most glaring thing about "AI" is that over time it's just getting less popular, more expensive and mired in stalled development. If there was anything worth offering adoption would have grown and profits wouldn't be a problem, but every big "AI" company is still reliant on investment dollars.
