Thank you all so much for what has been a wonderful year for me at Green Elects. I am optimistic for what the future holds for green politics, particularly in the United Kingdom.

Whatever happens to this project, I hope it has provided hope and inspiration to people. In whatever form, this space deserves committed green media; you deserve it. Once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. -Sammy Acting Leader of Green Elects Head of Digital and Media

Today, 2 October 2026, after further team talks, I have made clear privately, and announce now, that I am unable to fulfil permanent leadership due to other commitments, and I am thereby resigning as a member of the Green Elects team, with immediate effect.

I wish nothing but the best of luck to whoever takes Green Elects forward into the future. I thank Daniel for the opportunity to serve, and sincerely wish him well for the future, despite the regrettable ways in which he has conducted himself.

This has come as quite a shock to the remainder of the team, and his lack of explanation as to why he has departed, coupled with his subsequent lack of communication with us about a way forward, despite us showing him support, has been visceral.

After Dan's resignation at 1:20 am on 1 October 2026, that day, the remaining team assembled, I became acting leader, and talks began.

I can confirm that Green Elects founder Daniel Laycock informed us of his resignation from the organisation with immediate effect. He is no longer a member of our team.

The Austrian Greens are polling at 19% in Vienna, up two points compared to the previous poll. 📈 In the 2020 Vienna state election, the Greens had their best-ever showing, winning 14.8% of the vote. Now, they are polling at nearly 20%. Immense. 💥

We've positively changed how we deliver ALT text. We will now follow UCL Press guidelines by default. Our former system wasn't fit for purpose. Accessibility is important to us; we have been professionally advised on it for a while and act in good faith. Apologies, and thank you for your support.

FYI, we may yet alter the guidelines we follow, this is a provisional guide for us that is subject to change and alteration to fit the context in which we work We are discussing the best system long term. Cheers Sammy Head of Digital and Media
