So, about that button where you can switch between light mode and dark mode on websites... Yeah, no. Forget that. Nobody needs to switch between dark and light themes on your website. As an OS setting? Absolutely.

How do you eat a pizza? Me, I tear off the crust and dip it in barbeque sauce. The middle, I fold in half and eat like a sandwich.

A struggle that everyone must overcome when looking for work is rejecting "Can I do it?" for "Do I want to do it?" For a business idea to have any chance of being successful, it must be a passion project. You will not otherwise break through the wall of loneliness & risk.

Americans: plan your response to the republicans winning the midterms. Do it now. Don't let it be driven by emotion.

It appears that @zed.dev does not support @augments or @extends in jsdoc. Can anyone confirm/deny? I have a typedef for a subset of properties. I want to create another typedef for those properties plus others. Zed insists on giving it an 'any' type, apparently? Or I am doing something wrong?

its almost as if the videos of humanoid robots running full tilt into a wall and breaking into pieces and catching on fire are symbolic for what is likely to happen to the global economy when the ai bubble implodes.

Going after Mamdani, for encouraging use of cycling helmets, signals that we have got to tan-suit levels of desperate idiocy.

Re: Trump's proposal to rename Lake Michigan to Lake America. Simply a case of being so focused on point-scoring that you've lost sight of how much of an idiot you're making yourself look. Every day is a new level of pathetic for this guy. And, unfortunately, for America.

I'm quite happy to be "left behind", actually. Because I value my skills, morality, ethics, environmental protections, availability of drinking water and product quality over money, feature factories, building the wrong thing quicker and cognitive decline.

Unsurprising news on US/Canadian talks. America can no longer be trusted. That has been clear for a while: with certainty, today. To be clear: a new president will not magic this away. Governments come and go, but the distrust and enmity caused in the peoples of so-called allies? It will persist.

Attempting to persuade AI zealots and tech billionaire sycophants that they are on the wrong path to the wrong destination is a waste of time and energy. They are like the MAGAs of the tech world: won't listen to facts, reason, critical thinking or logic. Because it's a cult.

I love the idea of the atmosphere, but looking at all the apps on @sifa.id, I still dont "get it". At least, I dont get those apps, anyway. All I feel are solutions-looking-for-problems vibes. Would love to feel differently, though.

Just found @t3.gg's unsurprising meltdown about codeberg. Much hilarity from the AI sycophants in the comments, unironically calling codeberg a cult.

Watching the LinkedIn bros loudly decide that everyone uses AI to build software: "As AI becomes part of everyday delivery..." Should I tell them? Would they even listen, if I did? Probably not.

Most software is awful, because most software development processes are awful. Can we be honest about this? Or are we still only interested in avoiding change?

AI is a psychology and philosophy case study, playing out in real time. From the lords and peasants model of sycophantry, to the fall of capitalism-dominated America.

Using AI is deskilling yourself. It gives harmful advice. It is based on theft. It is causing the RAM shortage. Data centers are poisoning our communities. AI has truly been a net negative for humanity and the bubble needs to burst yesterday.

Today I was labelled as a flat-earther, because I was not running into the loving embrace of AI. Technofeudalism is real, right down to the sycophantic peasants that think the lords must know what they're doing, because they have money. The peasants will always defend the lords that beat them.

Installed Linux. Feels like I went home. Though the state of config/settings apps is ridiculously dire. Just a long, long, LONG list of everything. There are *some* submenus, but it's just so much more painful than it needs to be.

One thing about the alleged end of physical video games, is the victimhood of the whole thing. A big corporation decides something in its own self-interest - and the world has to meekly fall in line? Well, no. They may have convinced you that they are the games industry. But they're not.

Stop being a victim. Grow up. Abandon this learned (or rather, taught) helplessness. If Sony or Microsoft or whoever want to force everyone digital, don't give them that power. We can make choices. And they may not be in alignment with corporate. Stop crying and evolve.

I keep seeing AI attached to various apps, only available on non-free tiers. Honestly, I'd pay to NOT have AI polluting my life, but there you go. Somehow it has become a value add? Maybe in your slop universe, but not in the real world!

I saw Supergirl today, despite the massive amount of online criticism I've read about it. It was great. I'm guessing that people have a problem with a Supergirl that isnt Superman in a skirt? Or maybe they were astonished that she didnt need a man to save her? Who knows...

I might be being dramatic here, but software development (and software) has never been good. Not ever. Instead of working on software development skills, the org works on client management skills. So clients accept (whether happily or not) that they are being given a turd in exchange for cash.

AI: My training cutoff is the end of June 2026. Me: Impossible, since that is in the future. AI: My training cutoff is actually in late 2024. AI is a tool that lies confidently, yet many are shrugging their shoulders and making their careers dependent on it. Make this make sense.
