Yo ye pharoahs, let us walk through this barren desert, in search of truth and some pointy boots, and maybe a few snack crackers Minnesota NoICE - Minneapolis 🏳️‍🌈

I know this sounds dumb and feeble but we have to stop these people - it's like we're in a bus being driven off a cliff and no one is trying to grab the wheel

No need to fact check and be reasonable about this - Trump is attacking Omar because she is a black immigrant from Africa, a Muslim, a woman, and represents Minnesota. She's the personification of everything Trumpism is against.

Ilhan Omar@ilhanmn.bsky.social

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

There will be a lot of equivocating about all the times search warrants have been executed on members of Congress for corruption investigations and the like, and it can't be stressed enough in how many ways HSI raiding Ilhan Omar is extremely not like that.

if I were married to the guy who's big policy idea was "render innocent people to third world torture prisons with no due process" I would be extremely careful about invoking the ideas of fairness or justice in making the case for how you should be treated!

Katie Miller, who is a co-conspirator in actions Elon Musk took that will kill millions, RTs interview of Maggie Haberman describing that everyone is counting on pardons, whining that "her family" had to pay for lawyers. (There is abundant evidence Trump paid for it & ALSO laundered $$ to Stephen).

But don't try to give someone a bottle of water while they stand in line in the heat to vote or offer them a ride to the polls. That's bribery..

Trump: "We're making a fortune. So if the Republicans win, you win with us and you get $5,000. It will be called the Trump Dividend. Congratulations."

Minneapolis shooting today, details still coming but it sounds like another guy with a gun shot and killed people because he was angry and couldn't find a better way to deal with it Still waiting on those mental health resources that are supposed to help reduce gun deaths, I guess

Sometimes I really feel the weight of a culture in which 30-40% of people don't accept facts or common knowledge. The rest of us end trying to prove, again and again, ideas that are obvious, only to find that proof doesn't matter. They will believe lies and fantasies no matter what we show them.

Dolly Parton showed us a positive type of the Me Too phenomenon - it seems like there are going to be thousands of stories about how she helped someone once without looking for credit or publicity

Since TPS was meant to be temporary, Congress needs to approve permanent residence for these people rather than keeping them in legal limbo or allowing them to be deported

Elizabeth Warren@warren.senate.gov

Haitian families on TPS are part of the fabric of our community and our economy. They're neighbors, workers, and friends who have been in the U.S. legally to stay safe from horrific violence in Haiti. It is cruel for Donald Trump to end TPS protections for them now.

It's always weird to me that the 2nd Amendment warriors don't seem to care much about the 1st Amendment (or any others) Freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, these are the basics

The U.S. government investigated left-leaning groups during the immigration crackdown in Minnesota, infiltrating group chats and obtaining financial records of organizations never accused of crimes, according to newly released documents.

Strib quotes Steve Brandt, president of the Board of Estimate and Taxation, "the mayor plans to more accurately budget police overtime. Last year was the seventh straight year of record overtime costs; the last time the city stayed within its overtime budget was 2018." Frey was elected in 2018 😑

Wedge LIVE!™@wedge.live

Mayor Frey says the city has been "drastically undercounting the dollar figure necessary in the budget to complete those [police] overtime hours... for as long as I can remember." What he means is "the whole time I've been mayor."

Come on people. "The widespread accessibility of DNA tests has unraveled cases across the world where fertility doctors have been found to be biological fathers. More than 50 fertility doctors in the United States have been accused of fraud for donating sperm."

Dr. Dennis Lutz, the chairman of the University of North Dakota’s OB-GYN department, did not deny the claims in a lawsuit. The university said it intends to fire him.

Fauci hearing underlines how much was broken (especially brains) during 2020 and COVID. We're still dealing with the inflation and the mistrust of science and public health. Maybe everything has to be partisan now, but it's nuts how many people still want to "take sides" on a global pandemic.

Have to get this out of my system

Minnesota Star Tribune@startribune.com

The City of St. Paul has hired an outside law firm to investigate sexual harassment allegations against Mayor Kaohly Her, including claims that she directed inappropriate sexual comments toward Police Chief Axel Henry and other city employees.

Truly outrageous - not a lot of details yet but it seems another peaceful law abiding gun owner suddenly stopped being law abiding and killed several people. We shouldn't have to live like this.

MPR News@mprnews.org

The charges state the shooting was captured on surveillance video and claim that Tsegaab Ademassu Binessu, 30, also confessed to his roommate. Court documents allege that Binessu “executed” the three victims.

120 Minutes was one of those things I love/hated at the time, waiting through songs I wasn't crazy about (soooo much Love and Rockets) for the surprise gems, but there is no denying its lasting influence. RIP Dave

120 MINUTES was an absolute oasis in pre-internet pop culture. So many bands that you could ONLY find there (TV-wise) became ubiquitous online later (and relatively recently). A pioneer. consequence.net/2026/07/dave...

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

I don't like to speak ill of the dead so I'll get this out now, Mitch McConnell has been one of the most damaging people to our system of government in US history, and I give him much of the blame for the cynicism many Americans have adopted towards our democracy

Well while we're here - Lindsey Graham always felt more like a side character; he was a stopped clock that ended up being right every so often, but will mainly be remembered as someone who when he felt the MAGA wind blowing into his face, he turned around and walked with it.

Doing a little wallowing tonight, thinking about how many US adults have not seen healthy three branches of government in their entire lives. Do people remember what a democratic Congress is supposed to do? That laws should be passed by the legislature and not executive orders and court decisions?

I'm often thinking about how long it will take to rebuild some version of our society and government after the Trump years end, and I hope there are still a few people around who remember what it is supposed to look like, and maybe even make it better.

It's wild looking at the transcript of this TAL episode from 2016 - residents in Tom Emmer's district afraid of Sharia law, immigrants on welfare, etc etc - and at that time he was pushing back!! www.thisamericanlife.org/600/transcript

Tom Emmer: "Minnesotans are so afraid that you're gonna call us a racist, you're gonna call us an Islamophobe. You know what? I'm done being even the least bit careful. Somalis don't assimilate. And if they don't assimilate, then they should go the hell back to where they came from."

This is what I've been wondering about the last few months

If potatoes turn out to be an intelligent alien species we're going to have a lot of explaining to do

The New York Times@nytimes.com

A giant potato, or what looked like one, was seen in the sky by an Army intelligence officer and four members of his unit in Colorado in 2022, according to new UFO files released by the Trump administration.
