Hey, I'll let you know that the cheesecake factory was a step up. My ancestors were cheesecake serfs until the revolutions of 1848. (I then get perma-banned for being unfunny.)

I know this is not libel but maybe it should be? This is more akin to 1993 anti-Tutsi radio broadcasts.

*If*, as stated, they were invited to talk about immigration and then to pray privately with the president, which was then involuntarily turned into a campaign ad - that would, in principle, be pretty different then coming to participate in a pseudo-religious campaign rally. No?

They somehow tracked Acton’s birth mom down, found her living in a car with her cats, in a church parking lot, and took her to a video shoot to make vague accusations about her daughter, who she hadn’t seen in 40+ years, being a liar. Borders on elder abuse.

The generality principle of the Rule of Law is its most essential concept. A class of people outside criminal law is incompatible with a law-based society.

Everyday I get on my knees and pray that Angie Nixon somehow pulls off a win.

In law school I learned about the Rule of 5: if you can get 5 Supreme Court justices to vote for it, it’s the law. My hope is that law schools will be teaching the Rule of 7 after Democrats retake Congress and President.

When Democrats take over the government, everyone who accepts a pardon from Trump should be permanently barred from government employment. If possible, also from any lobbying or contracting activities.

Maher takes such joy in saying “fuck you” to his audience. I watched Politically Incorrect then Real Time religiously 1997-2009. I’ve seen him live. He’s not a funny person, and when a joke bombs he goes “oh fuck you” then people laugh & applaud. His stance was always “I’m too edgy for you squares.”

The MAGA crew (recently Andrew Tate) speaks shrilly about prison conditions. They’re right! But their minor contacts w/ incarceration are not unique. We treat criminals terribly in this country. Trump only gives a shit about abuses when the targets are his allies, white ppl, or a sexual predators.

Good for this reporter! That takes a lot of guts, and Trump especially but presidents generally don’t deserve deference when they’re slimy insulting liars like Trump is.

D+ 20-25% nationally would be a good guess. There’s a vast gap between when the maps start to fail in some districts and when they actually hurt Republicans compared to a nonpartisan baseline

Unrelated but I think my origin story as a person is arguing with a park ranger at Gettysburg when I was 8 (I was right, but I can’t imagine how fucking annoying I was)

1) hugely disappointing and a continuing structural failure 2) at what point does it become an actual dummymander? If it’s a 20% Dem GCB environment, is that when the aggressive redistricting backfires? 25%? Not that this will happen but I’m curious.

Stephen Wolf@stephenwolf.bsky.social

There will be a major tendency among pundits to downplay GOP gerrymandering when Democrats flip the House and the GOP fails to flip some of its mid-decade remap targets, but the pre-2026 baseline was still very gerrymandered. Even in a wave, the national map could cost Dems two dozen seats or more
