"The unidentified air traffic controller was in charge of both air and ground traffic. While that's not necessarily out of the ordinary — especially late night — it should be. It meant he was in charge of telling planes in the air, on the ground, and vehicles on the ground where they needed to go."

Ossoff: "The WH put out a video depicting this war as a video game. When service members are returning in flag-draped coffins, & even more have lost limbs or suffered brain injuries or are fighting for their lives, this WH treats war like a game. It's a disgrace. And it speaks to a moral rot."

WTH?!!!

✋ Former USG war crimes lawyer here. Apropos of SecDef's remarks this morning: Denial of quarter—even the declaration of no quarter—is a war crime. And recognized as such by the US Government. From DoD's Manual for Military Commissions.

And as a fun related legal fact, the failure of a commander to punish war crimes by his subordinates is also a war crime under the doctrine of command responsibility. Published by the Naval War College in 2021: digital-commons.usnwc.edu/ils/vol97/is...

Everyone: "Let's throw all of our money into one huge pot so when someone gets sick they have the funds available for treatment." America: "Hey, that's exactly what we do." CC: "Then why is your healthcare so bad?" America: "Oh, we let businessmen steal 60% of the pool so it's not socialism."

Didn’t we acknowledge that this was a poor policy decades ago and break up and make laws to prevent monopolies…. Funny how when they control the narrative things move back into their favor…

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

America has 925 billionaires as of this year. Collectively they have a record $6.9 trillion in wealth. The bottom 50% of Americans control $4.2 trillion in wealth. When 925 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

Call to action…

Ash-Lee Woodard Henderson@ashdashlee.bsky.social

This’s a long one. TLDR: What needs to be done requires us to get more comfortable w/contradictions & complexity, but doing the right thing, loving your neighbor through your actions, taking collective action to build & sustain our power, & reveal & make evil uncomfortable, is pretty damn simple.

I’ve been in politics for over a half-century. I’ve watched as corporations and the super-rich flooded D.C. with campaign cash and ransacked our system. It won't be easy, but here’s how we break the corporate oligarchy and return power to the people. https://youtu.be/sP0pRIBRcDk?si=o8uynfvuoVhcX7p8

This is brutal. India says Trump is lying about a trade deal and says he also lied about brokering a peace deal between India and Pakistan. We are a joke around the world. bsky.app/profile/meid...

This is an important reminder: even the LAPD acknowledged yesterday that everything was peaceful. Then Trump brought the chaos. He is responsible.

AOC: We heard that we should take your word that Medicaid will be protected — that we should trust you that no one is going to be affected by this. But as a woman, the word was given that my rights would not be taken away by the Supreme Court — and that wasn’t true.

I saw headlines about Trump's education secretary making this mistake, and I just assumed she was reading, because I have mistaken that word myself while reading. But she was not reading. Jesus Christ, she was not reading.

Yo! Shoutout to AOC & Bernie for leading by example — showing up, speaking truth & organizing w/the people, not just talking at them from D.C. We need that same energy from all Dems. Whether it’s 35,000 or 35 people — show up. Hit the streets, hit the town halls, show you’re ready to fight for us.

Remember: The recipe for economic growth isn’t tax cuts for the rich. It’s investment in our people — in health care, infrastructure and education — to build a strong middle class.  You don't grow the economy through trickle-down nonsense.
