is anyone else kinda glad that claude speaks in such a distinct, dense, inhuman prose style? it’s probably better if robots sound like robots, and it means humans have less incentive to pass it around to other humans

To add: - This can make the XY problem worse, because people will dig deep on Y without asking the team that can recognize when they should be doing Z instead

I’ve been hearing two things: - People are happy they can ask questions quickly without judgment or looking for the Right Person to ask in the office. - People are unhappy that nobody asksthem questions, because that is how they get to know colleagues and win their trust.

Last year, my team shipped a Swift rewrite of Apple's TrueType hinting interpreter. The new code is strictly memory safe, relentlessly tested, and faster than the C code it replaced. This year, it is my pleasure to ship it for a second time—now as an open source package—and to share our experience!

Memory-safe. 13% faster on average. ⚡️ The TrueType hinting interpreter in macOS and iOS has been rewritten in Swift, replacing the original C implementation. Pixel-perfect accuracy was validated across 27 million glyphs. And the results: www.swift.org/blog/migrati...

Did a 5 day glassblowing intensive course since I have a month between jobs. I cannot adequately express just how helpful it’s been to get incredible instruction + at least 20 more hours of studio time. Pictured is Day 1, then day 2, then day 4. Straighter, taller, thinner, and more consistent.

Now that it’s December 31st I can confirm, only 3 recipes from the NYT cooking calendar can be sung to the tune of the teenage mutant ninja turtles theme song: March 8 & 9: Caramelized Banana Pudding May 9: Caramelized Zucchini Pasta September 9: Creamy Vegan Tofu Noodles

I’m quite excited today. Why? Because I got to delete 3500 lines of custom navigation (like 5 different navigation bars) and replace them all with system navigation. Good riddance!

My friend and I used to make a YouTube video series that gained a cult following back in ~2008-2012 and has a TV Tropes page. I used the money from YouTube partner revenue to buy my first Mac, which started my career.

Share a piece of lore about yourself Yes I stole this from musky folks site…I feel like we’ll get better answers here lol

Mainly an exercise to brush up on server-side Swift and make sure I can still do things like make an authentication system and deploy an SSL-protected server at home. I also vibe coded a simple web app and web push support so my roommate can use it.

I'll put the app on TestFlight soon. You can sign up as long as you're okay with me having your location 😬. I also of course have account deletion that fully wipes everything associated with you.

Does anyone know how to update a UICollectionViewDiffableDataSource synchronously? I need to do this, all on the same frame: - Update the data source without animation - Compute the difference in content size - Scroll up to compensate for the difference (without animation) - Scroll down animated
