I like persona 4 a lot but maybe it's because my first time playing it I played golden and did the accomplice ending first and never even did the other golden-specific ending bc I didn't get my social link with marie high enough

scared bc I have to watch this (imo) bad ecchi anime for anime club obligations but watching seichokai (which I adore) alongside it really puts into perspective how unlikeable all the characters are in the former and how bland the fantasy setting is to me

fantasy settings can be interesting but this one is like, low fantasy trash that's just like "imagine modern day japan but with monsters and a society that inexplicably recruits schoolgirls to fight the monsters"—which has been done before in ways that I like!!! (alien 9, every magical girl show)

so far every female character exists to fulfill some harem trope and hasn't shown any personality beyond what's necessary to justify their interactions with the male protag who kinda sucks. the fanservice is half-baked D/s stuff for mindless gooning: putting something sexual—but not sexy—on screen
