Strange clump of hooves and antlers in the shape of an elk. About 40, ND ∞, he/him. Will eat your hostas and square off with your car. Very Appalachian. 𒀭𒆠𒊮𒀸 𒁺 Note: posting AI art, or constantly screencapping X, gets you muted/blocked

#CFF26 is now in the history books. Thank you so much to everybody who showed up to make it an amazing event. There is so much work that goes into making these conventions happen, and seeing all of you having fun and creating memories is what makes it all worthwhile. Now for a rest...

Oh yeah, I should definitely re-watch The Haunting (1963) right before going to sleep, alone in my house for the first time in a week. That's a fantastic idea!

Our final champion might be a bit controversial. Your Bat Month Madness: Floofiest Champion is 🥁 𝘓𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘶𝘳𝘶𝘴 𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘶𝘴! 🌯 Was the floofiest bat crowned? Or does 𝘍𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘶𝘴 𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘴 deserve justice?

It's almost as if... it's almost like... Nah, surely many of these companies don't think the AI bubble is about to pop, and they're trying to move the gear while the margins are astronomically high, right? RIGHT??

NVIDIA seems to be channel stuffing, forcing Amazon and other customers to take early delivery. The argument that these things are "scarce" when you don't even have anywhere to plug them into is nonsense...unless NVIDIA is saying you NEED to take them now, or else. GPUs are stacked in warehouses.

And now it's AI-generated nature videos.

Today marks the 50th time I've blocked an account for posting AI-generated political content, despite the views ostensibly aligning with my own. Slop does not cease to be slop merely because it is in one's favorite color.

Possibly the saddest thing about the rise of generative AI is that going forward, any human-created art from about 2020 onward is going to be viewed with a certain default suspicion.

The slop farms have figured all of this out, of course, and junk attributions are now rampant- but the good thing about facts is that they can be checked. The absence of facts is not so courteous.

Possibly the saddest thing about the rise of generative AI is that going forward, any human-created art from about 2020 onward is going to be viewed with a certain default suspicion.

Example: If I see "(title) by (artist), 2022" I'm likely to simply keep scrolling. But if I see "(title) by (artist), 2022, acrylic on canvas, on display in (museum)" then I'm much more likely to stop and admire. And that's really tragic.
