Once again, Tyra and Landry have teamed up to put an asshole in the ground

Tonight, we’re kicking off our Clear Eyes, Full Hearts Tour with some special guests from the cast of Friday Night Lights. We’ve come this far together. Now it’s time to leave it all on the field. Join us: www.mobilize.us/talaricofort...

I did door to door fundraising for a PIRG. Started on a Monday. Was told following week if I didn’t make a quota, I’d be fired. Called that night and got my old job bagging groceries and stocking shelfs and quit PIRG next morning.

Recall both but my mind went to the frying pan first.

Hive mind, settle a Gen X debate for me. What's more famous: "I learned it by watching you" OR "This is your brain on drugs" And if you need more context then you aren't allowed to answer.

PEOPLE WITH LIBERAL ARTS DEGREES: so while i see there is utility to the system, i’m more or less morally opposed to their current constructs and have big concerns over the business structure and environmental impact WEB CODER: so i met God today,

In no particular order: David Attenborough, Daniel Stern, Gus Johnson, and Andres Cantor are some names I have not see yet. Other have mentioned Keith Jackson, and I love me a Whoa Nellie!

You suddenly get a narrator describing your life and there’s no way to turn it off - everyone can hear it. While shopping, at work, at home, with friends - the voice narrating your every move goes on. Who do you hope is the voice of this narrator?

Hi @edzitron.com - caught the rewind of better offline this week. Regarding one off uses go generative AI, they are there and easy to find but I don’t think casting doubt on the use itself is the right response. I can give you 5-10 examples for myself. The question to me is what would you pay?

Ed Zitron@edzitron.com

No Better Offline this week, taking a week off, exhausted from various family emergencies. Back next week. I need to recharge.

At free, it’s great! Would I have paid for a single output that I’ve used it for? No, I wouldn’t. And I think that’s the rub. As the old saying goes, we’ve established what it is, now we are just dickering over the price.

Sure - but would you pay full fright compute costs for such a product? My guess is no, and not many other folks would either. I’d say how much that might be but no one knows!

This is also makes the worst places I’ve ever visited list. Double decker chemical shitters in a concrete wasteland with no shade or greenery.

Editor says 3k likes and ferry boat fried goodies gets a Charlie review. Help the man out.

Charlie Warzel@cwarzel.bsky.social

very much considering pitching (threatening?) my editor to let me go to Mariner's opening day to write about the FRIED FOOD SOUVENIR FERRY VESSEL (i do not write about food)

1) Traveling salesman 2) Army/Journalist/mayor/congressional candidate/FSO. Also dabbled as an unlicensed plumber, but that’s really just an inside family joke.

Sarah Archer@sarcher.bsky.social

Whether or not you’re running for Congress and trying to seem rugged (and you probably should run, because, look who’s out there) what did your grandpas do for a living?

Bob my was drivers ed teacher at sears driving school for me and my brothers (by coincidence, not design - good enough for the oldest, good enough for the rest). He was, the closest thing to the epitome of ‘Flowers on the Wall’ I’ve ever met. And a nice man a d perfectly fine drivers ed teacher.

Andrea Grimes@andreagrimes.com

okay one of my best friends just told me her driver's ed teacher was named wait for it Mr. Streetman ... and now, because the horrors are horroring, I wish to hear from Bluesky about all your great and bad and terrible and fun driver's ed stories

My favorite drivers ed anecdote though is a knock on the class not Bob. Each class would end with a multiple choice quiz which he would read aloud. One week, one of the questions was ‘when you come to a stop sign you must and then fill in the blank

Bob overestimated the class though because while he usually read all 4 answers, he determined this simple enough he need not bother. After the question, he read only one answer: C, stop and then moved on. More than one person insisted on hearing the other answers. I wish I was making it up.

No social media for me in college - only the all campus list-serve. A wise man once told me that you will never change someone mind via a list-serve debate. If you do, than that person is a jackass. And by default, makes you a jackass maker.

Ana Marie Cox@anamariecox.com

The secret to engaging in social media debate is knowing you will never win anyone over. The best you can hope for is to have people who already agree with tell you you're awesome. You might great a dopamine thrill from the righteousness of your anger! Fine benefits, all. But you will never win.

Probably our former LT Governor who later resigned and joined the clergy. After that, a friend whose name you don’t know but whose voice you would recognize from national VO ad spots.

I read that he feels it lends itself to the ‘kinetic quality’ he wants in his film making. Getting ready for a bazillion and a half quick cuts.

Used to shop at the same grocery store as NFL coach Mike Holmgren. Would see him occasionally and always offered the same “Hi Coach - love you on the radio” to which he always would politely say “Thank you”.

I also met ball player Jason Bay once. He was on the field pre-game for the NFC Champ game vs the Packers. I was (briefly) in a field level north end zone suite. How I wound up in that suite is a very yadda yadda yadda style story.

I’ve been on the sideline during kickoff. The answer is no. A better question might be if you suited up, could you even stay on the field for 10 plays without suffering a catastrophic injury.

Ryan Nanni@celebrityhottub.bsky.social

been thinking about that “if you had 10 carries behind an NFL line, could you get a first down” hypothetical and the trickier question is this: assuming you don’t slide, could you make it through all ten carries without fumbling

This actually seems like it’s destined for @sheaserrano.bsky.social - not counting his family that basically combines his two favorite things.

If you are near Philadelphia, have 123 dollars, and roughly 28 cubic feet of space to store 1,600 VHS tapes in reasonably climate controlled conditions until I can get up there, I will retrieve this collection of almost guaranteed vital archival value and digitize its entirety.

@minakimes.bsky.social - the conversation at my house has centered on what scenario on the field prompts the 2319 response on screen. My daughters request you weigh in. Leaders in the clubhouse are a shoe flying off the miraculous return of Morganna the kissing bandit. Thank you!
