The notion that the TGAs would lose credibility if GTA 6 didn't win GOTY is absurd because it didn't have any to lose in the 1st place. It's a 3-hour pay-for-play trailer festival with some statues handed out in between. Even the viewing audience is usually bribed with Steam Deck giveaways and such.

American TV is weird. I bought into the Nene Royal hype on America's Got Talent. I think she and her story are great, but if you check the ratings, you'll see that more people watched Guillermo from Jimmy Kimmel Live on Dancing with the Stars. Online, though she's racked up millions of views.

I suppose that could have been the Thai community showing their support, but people in the US had to vote for her. The weird part is a show proclaiming to highlight America's talent being not all that popular in its own country, and resonating way more internationally. Might be by design, though.

If Zach Cregger really wanted his movie to stay faithful to the Resident Evil games, he would have made Chris the main character and cast three distinctly different looking actors for the role.

I have gone down the Nene Royal rabbit hole and I'm a fan, but I always find it funny that these talent shows are like "Up next on AMERICA'S Got Talent...from Phuket, Thailand..."

I added my game collection to the Price Charting app to be able to check if I already own a title or not when I'm out shopping. With all my consoles and whatnot it comes out to nearly 600 items.

Sony's current leadership has proven to be completely incompetent (the decision to chase GAAS sure turned out well). I really don't get why them pulling out of the PC market and killing off physical media are being seen as brilliant strategic moves. The PS6 is already in fucking trouble.

People usually point to the Xbox One Eighty debacle or the Kinect as the beginning of the end for Xbox, but I actually think things went downhill after 2008. I have a 360 made in Nov. 2008 that still has the Blades interface, and the amount of bangers you can play on it without updating it is crazy.

If id-fucking-Software gets shut down the gaming industry as we know it is over. That's such an iconic studio, it would basically be like shutting down Nintendo or some shit.

People weirdly don't seem to understand that Valve's other option aside from raising the price on Steam Decks would've been to downgrade them like other handheld manufacturers are doing. They aren't going to take a loss, y'all. www.tomshardware.com/video-games/...

I decided to start posting regularly to my YouTube channel and through the 1st third of the year I've grown my subscriber count by nearly 50%. What sucks is I know I could grow faster by chasing trends and being more topical, but that's not what I want my channel to be about, so I don't.

Just saw The Lee Cronin's Mummy (that's how it's written). As a possession film, it's not half bad, but it takes way too long to get going should've been at least twenty minutes shorter.

I was way too excited to learn that someone finally invented a third-party receiver for Wavebirds. I still have the controller in near-mint condition and I am finally able to use it again after like 20 years. 😭

Yesterday I watched They Will Kill You, a film about two estranged sisters fighting for survival against a devil-worshipping cult. Today I watched Ready or Not 2, a film about two estranged sisters fighting for survival against a devil-worshipping cult. And Elijah Wood.

Just for fun, I recently put together a PC two 1080 Ti's in SLI. Games stopped supporting SLI around 2020, but I've found by dedicating the second card to frame generation, you can really get some extra mileage out of them. Shame Nvidia just killed driver support though. 😭

I've been playing games on an old PC with two GTX 275s and an i5 3770K. It's been fun seeing what the most modern games it can run are. Surprisingly, a lot of Nightdive's remasters work on it (like Powerslave: Exhumed) even though they use DX11 and Vulkan and the GPUs are supposedly incompatible.

It's also been fun to see what DX9 stuff it can handle. Games like Crysis 2 run at a full 1080p60 without any trouble, and most AAA games from that generation have zero issues when it comes to SLI support. Nvidia really did a solid job of making sure it just worked.

I think Phil Spencer did some good stuff in his early years as head of Xbox, but I’m afraid his legacy will be spearheading the acquisition of lots of beloved studios that never got a fair shake before ultimately being shut down.

Having a conscience can fucking suck. I turned down a huge job offer yesterday and cited a long commute as the reason why. The truth is I currently work on a small team of three, and my two colleagues have kids, and if I left and they subsequently got let go, I’d feel guilty forever. Ugh.

Saw the #StrangerThings finale at the theater. Definitely the way to go. Thought it was solid overall, and loved the epilogue. I'll definitely miss having a show around to remind me of my childhood. 🙁
