@skillup.bsky.social hey. Just a quick shoutout, I heard your MacroFactor ad around 3 months ago, I was already trying to lose weight at that point, but your ad had me check it out and it has been a god send. I have been on a cut for 100 days and just reached my goal, around -20kg. Thanks!

Two talks submitted for EuroLLVM 2026! Hope to get them accepted (I think they are bangers), see you there!

What a day! First day with the fine folks at @larianstudios.com - the todo list is enormous, but the people is so welcoming and positive. This is going to be great. After that full day of data inhalation I went out for dinner with @kbeyls.bsky.social and it was nice to nerd out with a fellow LLVMer!

Weight loss is very individual, but here is what helped me lose 18kg over the last 6 months. I used the app "MacroFactor" to log what I eat, I replaced my lunch with a meal shake, I focused on my protein intake, gym 3x/week and 10k steps the other days. Motivation is the key, and I had it.

I am not done. I want to lose a bit more, but then I will switch from losing weight to maintaining which will be another challenge.

The #LLVM developer room is back at #FOSDEM , on January 31st! I'm excited about the variety in topics covered, from hardware generation using mlir/llvm to C/C++ repls. Come join us either in-person in Brussels, or online through the live-feed which will be available at fosdem.org/2026/schedul...

Job update: I am leaving Ubisoft at the end of the year. I am very proud of the work I did on compiler optimizations on AC: Shadows and I will miss my co-workers there dearly. In the new year I will join the fine folks over at @larianstudios.com and work on compilers and builds. I am very excited!

2025 is shaping up to be one of the weirdest years I have ever had. Right now I just want to fast forward my life until 2026.

Personal note - this release was pretty stressful, with a ABI break found in the last week before release and lot of merge problems with PRs. Hopefully the point releases will be small and drama free :cope:

It’s really cool to see my talk freely available for everyone. I’m proud of the work our team accomplished, and it means a lot that it’s now accessible to a wider audience. Huge thanks to the GDC team for putting it out there! #AssassinsCreedShadows #GameDevelopment #GDC2025

Now on GDC YouTube: Rendering 'Assassin's Creed Shadows' AC: Shadows is a large systemic open world game with dynamic time of day cycles, a systemic weather system, and seasons. Find out how they made it happen. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yj5p...

After an intense week of meetings and conference in Montreal I am home and have a week of. I will relax by ... remodelling our kitchen. At least I will have a bit of time to play FF7 Rebirth as well!

Back home after a week in Montreal. It was great fun to hang out with my team IRL, had great food and beer and many interesting discussions. My talk got very good feedback as well. With all that said. It's so damn nice to be back home.

PSA: If you are playing FF7Rebirth on PC and have texture problems and soft-locks - try upgrading the DirectStorage DLL's. It fixed almost ALL my issues with textures. It's almost like they shipped the wrong version of the DLLs. Hope SquareEnix fix it in a patch soon.

Back in 2021, PMG reported on the unseen games industry crunch taking place at outsourcing studios in SE Asia. Since then, the companies we looked at have continued to work on some of the biggest games in the world, without any push to improve the conditions of the artists doing that work. (1/7)

Very happy to have landed some really aggressive optimizations for an upcoming game today. ThinLTO with whole-program-vtables plus PGO and the basic block reordering. Ended up gaining around 10% performance on the CPU frame on PC. It's been a long road with testing and iteration.

It's so fucking demoralising at times.

Pretty rough comments section on this one. For anyone who watched it (particularly the Star Wars interview) would love to hear your thoughts. Did I not ask the right questions? Were the Ubi devs not giving the right answers? What was the issue here, you think? www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbV5...
