Americans have been taught to believe gambling, coming up with the next big thing, or working hard will make you succeed. All of these are gambling. Gambling that economies and corporations are playing by fair rules. Organize to hold these systems accountable, or else the house wins every time.

Haunting explanation from a ESPN producer on why she quit over the network’s all-out embrace of sports betting: www.cjr.org/the-intervie...

If DHS isn't investigating Elon or Nicki Minaj for their past immigration issues or DOJ investigating Paxton, Moody, Collins for their financial issues, then she is being targeted. If they aren't targeting Newsom, Pelosi, or Clintons for actual shady stuff, then it's because of her race and views.

Thank you to everyone who stood with me over the years. It’s been a scary journey but I have always been grounded in my work and ability to provide exemplary service to my constituents. Trump and his administration have been after me since I arrived in Congress.

There are so many more high profile targets that they could be going after. This is to stir up controversy and try to see if they can deport her. If they can do that to her, just imagine what they can do to people that have less support. The hate machine wont stop for you or your family.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

She's right. But really it's at any age these days. The ratio of men to women is just stupid. We've handed our ability to form relationships over to private corps who have figured out ways to gamify and enshittify things to the point where a person just looks at it and goes "Nah, not worth it"

It’s what dating apps look like at my age.

The apps prey on men wanting to connect instead of helping figure out why they can't connect, and they drive women away because the apps are so toxic and desperate. Tech and AI can't solve something as fundamental as "Life is harder and we need to slow down so we can help people."

Here's what's going to happen: Saudi Arabia get nukes, Saudi Arabia gets tired of foreign interference (Israel or USA), and Saudis use nukes as a threat to put pressure on other countries. They will not be nice about it.

News outlets that covered the US-Saudi nuclear deal without mentioning that Jared Kushner, Trump’s top foreign policy advisor, is getting paid by the Saudi government: WSJ NYT AP Reuters CNN NBC ABC CBS The Guardian Semafor Washington Post Fox News New York Post BBC Newsweek MS NOW

So, is the MSM finally going to start talking about his corruption since he admitted? There it is, from his own mouth, with no excuse except "I do this for our Country". Fox News and it's ilk will probably ignore it, but everyone else should be putting this own blast every day.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: “I do this for our Country, not myself. I’ve made Hundreds of Billions of Dollars on Stocks, and many other type Holdings, for the USA, not myself, and all I do is get criticized by the Radical Left Dumocrats. Very unfair, but what can you do!”

News Flash: Every religion allows lying in extreme circumstances. People feeling their life or livelihood threatened will justify a lie no matter who it hurts. Bush lied about WMDs, Biden lied about decapitated babies, JD Vance lied about Haitians, and Trump lied about Project 2025.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Mike Johnson on Iranians: "It's apparently part of their religion that they can just lie to someone they disagree with"

Why is the US being squeezed like a private equity owned company? Because that's what's happening. The Trump admin is carving up the world to starve out or use up anything that doesn't align with them. If the US sinks or swims under the pressure, it does not matter. As long as they control it.

A couple months ago, Sam Reich posed a question. He explained that he doesn't have to worry about executives or shareholders because Dropout is a private company. You could also say Steam and maybe GMM fall into this category. Short answer: It's not as exciting to have a company like Dropout.

It's about appearing to have the best product/service relative to their competitors while maximizing their profits. They have nothing new left to sell. They grind upstarts under their boot while maintaining what monopoly they can over their sectors. The next question: Why do any of this at all?

If they committed to doing the right thing and failed or fell short, then they would have to admit failure at an existential level. They would have to admit they aren't really as powerful or in control as they appear to be. They are only masters of a arbitrary game that they themselves made up.

The much longer answer: It's not as exciting and as profitable. Billionaires use strife and stress to justify their existence. They set arbitrary but achievable goals for themselves and their companies. Either to have the most marketshare, most money, most influence, and/or most control.

If you're focused on doing right by your customers and employees, you're missing the point of being at top of the dirt empire. These are people who have carved out their kingdoms as an exercise in spite or greed, not helping or uplifting. Having the best product/service is no longer their goal.

Everything from the 1980s onward is about extraction. Extracting you from others. Extracting you from the policies that shape your life. And, most of all, extracting value from you. Economically simple, more for the few and less for you.

It don't matter much what kind of government or socioeconomic systems you have if the people running it don't care about you. Some systems are more freeing while being very corruptible. Give me whatever system that takes care of people as a whole and doesn't break under the slightest of pressure.

Folks, this is Eugene V Debs. He advocated for peaceful change and was against striking at first. He realized he couldn't legislate for workers rights and that there wasn't much alternative to striking and unionizing. He was involved in the 1894 Pullman Strike that lead to strikers being killed.

The 1917 Espionage Act made it a felony to go against the war effort. They used this to arrest/silence citizens and deport immigrants they deemed as agitators. He was against WWI, and they used that to imprison him. He even ran for president from prison.

I post this to say: Anyone trying to be progressive and advocate for a better future is not going to be perfect. They are going to say things that will piss people off. Either not progressive enough or too progressive. Or they're just doing it because they like the attention.

He focused on class struggle which lead to tensions between black activists and feminist leaders. He knew if he specifically advocated for black laborers that the white laborers would probably turn on him. He had a temper, loved to drink, and could be dismissive to those that crossed him.

He didn't see much difference in the types of socialism. He even welcomed the Soviet Revolution. Though he was concerned about the Bolshevik authoritarianism. This created friction with younger radicals that wanted him to be more revolutionary. He remained committed to his view of socialism.

Folks, nearly all US polticians take money from corporations or PACs trying to hide their real intentions. It's the gilded age all over again. Our politics are monopolized and homogenized. If you are siding with corporate stooges or rooting against their opposition, then who are you doing it for?

Folks it was never about communism or socialism or anything else. It's all about the game, and how you play it All about control, and if you can take it All about the debt, and if you can pay it It's all about pain, and who's gonna make it

Folks instead of doing something useful we got the biggest bunch of dumbasses the world has ever seen. Let's do McCarthyism and House UnAmerican Activities Committee again since it worked so well the first time. Making a list with sitting politicians, a respected journalist, and a dead man on it.

My take on corruption and how we got here: When Bill Clinton did what he did in office, we should have never heard from them again. Not because he lied, everything leading up to the lie. The only reference to the Clintons should have been as a warning to future presidents "Don't pull a Clinton".

How are folks supposed to react when you got democrats glazing and praying for dead republican politician souls? You can't two face this kind of stuff where you condemn republicans that do the same as the one you're praying for. Best thing to come out of it is that people can see the real "you".

A real movement to make the world better for regular folks isn't about one politician or one election. You got folks on the right that think the ends justify the means no matter how corrupt/unethical. Even establishment democrats have bad politicians. Swalwell, Clintons, Anthony Weiner, Andrew Cuomo

Corporations have nothing new left to sell. The graphics ain't much better than last gen, blockbuster movies don't hit like they used to, and TV shows end with a last season whimper. So they do anything they can to save a buck and try to squeeze what they can out what remains.

Folks in this admin and their corporate owners ain't got nothing left to sell. Nothing new or innovative to capture the attention of people. So, they decided to sell you out and sell out to the highest bidders.

Monopoly got like two endings: One player gets all the money or two people play chicken for while until someone gives up. Using house rules, makes it last a long time. About half the time, you wind up with folks being pissed off. Pretty much how our economy is going these days.

Status quo folks are what got us into useless wars and debt up to our ears. We need folks that ain't bought out by big money interests. We need folks that voters can get behind and believe in. Otherwise, we wind staring down the the barrel of another Trump or something far worse.

The Tennessee Holler @thetnholler.bsky.social

MAYOR MAMDANI: “We’re talking about a status quo where children are being killed on a daily basis.” Zohran does not back down on his comments about AIPAC “monsters” perpetuating a genocide - after Rep. Gottheimer and others yet again tried to claim they were antisemitic.

Blaming other folks is his specialty. No accountability except if it he can spin it as a good thing or some achievement for himself. Everything he touches fails or enriches himself. His base thinks him getting rich makes them rich. It's team sports but they aren't even in the stadium.

The Tennessee Holler @thetnholler.bsky.social

Sums it up nicely

Folks he did say he was tired of the Iran war at multiple points. He thought it could just vibe his way through this and let other folks do all the hard stuff.

Sky Marchini@sky.skymarchini.net

One of the things that’s become really evident about this current phase of Trump is he just does not want to do the job anymore. they’ll trot them out to a signing or to some event in Wisconsin, but like, the most active and engaged he’s been publicly in months was at the UFC fight

Folks the biggest take away from all this is: This is the starting line, not the finish. This kind of stuff has been going on for 45+ years. Big money has taken everything it can from us and everyone who can needs to find some way to start taking it back. The longer we wait, the harder it becomes.

REPORTER: If the response is hitting bridges and electrical infrastructure, how is that not a war crime? HEGSETH: That's precisely the kind of disingenuous question I'm used to from the media -- impugning the motives of the folks on our side

All the diehard folks are far too invested to leave now. They don't want to try and invest in themselves. They don't want to take responsibility for getting the answers wrong. They want to point at a leader and say "I was just following orders" or "It made me feel like I belonged"

Rolling Stone@rollingstone.com

Donald Trump has built a cult of personality, but as his actions become more erratic, his hold on his followers may be slipping. Read: www.rollingstone.com/culture/cult...

Folks, the rules of politics are now like dealing with bullies that are full of themselves. If ya'll are on the backfoot fighting against everyone's bad view of you, then ya'll are in a losing battle. Bullies look strong but really it's the feelings that people go on. That's why they do so well.

Folks on the right have mostly crappy policies that ain't helping their people. Looks good on paper but we've seen where that leads. It leads to here and now. Folks have been vibing their way through politics for the last 45+ years while giving the upper crust everything they want.

The way you can overcome it: Have better policies and don't let them under your skin. They say your a bad person for something you did or did not do, fire back at 'em with their own failings. Don't let them make up stories about you and show everyone else just how full of it they are.

Much like the US: If folks are flaunting it in front of the world, then you can just figure out what they do in private.

Zeteo@zeteo.com

Israel's ultranationalist National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir shared this video showing Israeli forces abusing detained flotilla activists. Zeteo calls for the immediate release of all activists, humanitarians, and journalists abducted, including our contributor Alex Colston.

Steven Cheung is right about one thing. Don't doubt ole Trump's political power. You can't be Republican and against Trump. All politicians still have to deal with Trump, but if you concede to his corruption, then we know who you are and where you stand.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump’s mean tweets are still capable of swinging a primary in Kentucky. His approval rating is barely above drinking age and he will never be on the ballot again. His second term is already an abject failure. Other than that he’s killing it!

Well, I voted. Won't ever back candidates that support the corruption going on in the US. Might not make a difference in the long run, but at least I gave it a shot and we'll see how it all shakes out. Hopefully, more people get out and make their voices heard.

Folks, trickle down economics did work. It's working now. Every politician with significant power was paid to agree with it or agreed with it to get paid. Sure there are some that fight it, but how far did they get? Now's a good time to demand more and better.
