Reckoning@reckoningmag.bsky.social

And don't forget about our call for weird flash fiction about environmental justice, for a forthcoming special issue edited by @andrewkozma.net! 15c/word, closing October 31: reckoning.press/reckoning-fl...

However weird you’re thinking? Go weirder. 😈

NYGEL 🐙@nygelmag.bsky.social

✨️NYGEL's next submission period is December 1 2026 through January 31 2027! ✨️ That's right, a full 2 month sub window so you have plenty of time during the holiday season to cook up a diabolically horny monster erotica story! 😈 We want weird, unique, explicit smut involving anything non-human 👽

You know what doesn't get enough love? Horror short stories. From today through Halloween, I'll update this thread with Horror short story recommendations. Stuff you can read in a sitting while feeling like the shadows are watching.

We're watching the full Thriller short film downstairs and Eadweard came in and said "oh I've seen this before" and then reversed out of the room shuffling his feet like a cartoon character and I could not get him to recreate that perfect moment again if I tried.

I'm in this one! ⭐️ Have a listen! I like stories about angels. Especially the creepy ones. #booksky #audio #narration

Wanna hear something spooky? (And to add to the spookiness, I am posting this from the town of Bayport. Just meters from The Wishing Angel of Suffolk County!)

Delighted that my flash horror story "Woodsong" is reprinted in audio form in this week's episode of Pseudopod. At the edge of survival, an indomitable father-son pair cling to hope. Thanks to @pseudopod.org for running the story! #horror #flashfiction #shortstory #podcast

How have I not gotten around to talking about Her Horrorween yet? I've loved the entire series so far, but this entry is simply superb. I won't spoil anything on main, but I'm certain that followers of mine will adore this as much as I did.

I love a haunted lake, especially one that claims the life of a man every year.

It might be freshly fall, but we're already looking ahead to the next season and our Winter 2026 Issue. Now is the time to send us your (polished) weird stories. Submissions are open, now until November 5. Full guidelines and submission form here: www.weirdlitmag.com/...

Organic social is great for community maintenance, rarely for growth and conversion unless you are a massive creator tapping into an audience already searching for you. Or if you are running paid.

I’m really proud of how this essay turned out. I hope you’ll give it a read if you haven’t yet. Maybe you’ll even want to pick up a copy of my collection to read this story that has never been available for free online but that means so much to me because of the themes.

P.A. Cornell (She/Her)@cornellwriter.bsky.social

Thrilled to be sharing “My Favorite Bit” of my collection this morning on @maryrobinettekowal.com’s website. Thanks for having me Mary Robinette! I talk a little bit about disability, feminine strength, and post-apocalyptic worlds. Give it a read. maryrobinettekowal.com/journal/my-f...

I broke a mag's newsletter char limit and they had me submit an alt title, but my original title is hidden in the URL like a secret spell. 😈

🍬 Abigail Kemske 🍬@abigailkemske.bsky.social

You have no idea the joy it gives me to submit a story with a title too long to fully fit in the mag's form. 😈

Readers, the industry is watching how we respond to books with our platform activity and our wallets. Let's add these to our "want to read shelves", post and mention them frequently, and pre-order! I will keep making these hype lists as more book announcements are made juley.app/l/i74FPkN50qHq

In light of some magazines pulling scummy things on creators lately, I’m doing a little thread on short story rights. I don't want anybody getting taken advantage of. Also, if you're new, this stuff can be confusing!

I love Submission Grinder and all its sneaky little features.

Kyle Aisteach@badwriter.bsky.social

On the issue of exclusivity, @diabolicalplots.com has a tool called The Submission Grinder (free to use, tips appreciated) for locating markets and tracking submissions. It also has a feature where when a story is published, you can enter when your contracted exclusivity window ends.

Debating whether to make a flash piece that was a finalist but not selected for a very specific call free-to-read. It’s a good one, but would need an overhaul for other markets. 🤔
