Excited to share that I wrote a piece on Doubutsu no Mori for Mana Wave's new retrospective journal, celebrating some of the best Nintendo 64 games! It's packed with interesting stories and I'm honored to be featured alongside contributors like David Wise and Dan Salvato. 🎈🎁

30 years ago the Nintendo 64 launched in North America. 30 years of memories. Today, a new chapter for us. 30+ games, 40+ contributors, 250+ pages. Save State is a premium retrospective journal, each issue tackling one console at a time. Cover artworks by Caroline Choi & @bettyjiang.bsky.social

As promised, I spent the entire weekend completing a write-up that details exactly how Animal Crossing's new ACE exploit works. I also wrote a few custom payloads with step-by-step instructions on how you can execute them on a vanilla console. Enjoy! 🍃 hunter-r.com/posts/ace-in...

Note that each version of the game has unique addresses and character encodings. As such, we currently only have setups for the North American (NTSC) and European (PAL) versions. For Europe, you'll have to play in English for now to get these to work. More versions will be supported in the future.

Finally, I'll be explaining this ACE exploit further with dedicated visuals and more exciting payloads in an upcoming video. Hope you all look forward to it!

I forgot to mention this, but do not enter this secret code on your own copy without knowing what you're doing. Tom Nook will enter an infinite loop repeating the same gibberish forever until the game crashes. I'm currently working on documentation that details how to set up ACE properly.

About a month ago, powmia99 discovered a way to trigger arbitrary code execution fully standalone in Animal Crossing GameCube with nothing but a controller. This was confirmed by Cuyler and I to work on vanilla hardware and we now have a setup that makes it 100% consistent.

I do plan to make a dedicated video on this, but there are a lot of mechanics at play here that require time to fully script out and explain. I'm sharing this now to let you all know I am aware of the exploit and actively participated in testing/verifying it.

In the meantime, speedrunners and other creators will start showcasing what is possible with standalone ACE. You'll come to see that the possibilities are truly endless and this is, without a doubt, the most exciting and broken exploit that will ever be discovered in this game.

Unlike the previous NES-loader exploit, this setup requires no memory card editing and no external tools. Everything works from a fresh save using only what's built into the game. This is a huge discovery not only for Animal Crossing, but also the GameCube technical community.

Three years ago today I uploaded my very first video to the channel. It's been a pleasure to learn and share so much information about my favorite game series. As always, I'm grateful to every viewer who has tuned in along the way. I hope you tune in this Saturday as well... 👀

Somehow, launching a random soccer game by Konami ends up triggering a special debug mode in the Japanese+ version of Animal Crossing... but, how does this work? Join me as we dive into this neat exploit in a brand new video, now live on my YouTube channel. Hope you enjoy! ⚽️ youtu.be/9-dvmJTm0R0

I was just blocked by a "copyright" issue on a lengthy segment of this video scheduled to go live today. Since it can't be easily cut, I'll need to take some time to re-record, re-edit, and subtitle this part. I apologize for another delay, but I will try to re-publish by the weekend. 🥲

Tune in on Wednesday, June 17th for a brand new video. Hope you all look forward to it! ⚽️

I know it's been several months since I was active on YouTube and many people were asking how my family and I were doing. As such, I'd like to take this opportunity to provide a quick life update. Thank you all for your patience!

While I was away, devs from PlazaJapan.com were kind enough to reach out, compliment the channel, and gift me a complete set of the official Animal Crossing Happy Room miniatures. These were way more detailed than I thought and super fun to put together. Japan always gets the good stuff… 🫠

I'm happy to announce that I'll be returning to regularly scheduled uploads starting with a new video on February 11th. Hope to see you all next week! 🍃

I'd also like to thank you all for your patience and support as I navigate my father's recent stroke and hospitalization. While he remains bedridden and immobile, he is slowly recovering basic speech and motor function. We remain optimistic about further recovery as he continues rehab therapy.

Following a sudden family emergency, my channel will remain inactive for the remainder of the year. I encourage every one to call their loved ones and cherish the times you have in health, for you never expect something tragic to happen until it does. Read more: www.youtube.com/post/Ugkx2Lf...

I'm excited to share that I was a beta tester for the upcoming game "Pixel Pup" developed by @retrodotcards.com. This is a custom Picross-style game embedded entirely on printed e-Reader cards, making it fully playable on original GBA hardware! Such an incredible and fun little game! 🔥

If you're interested in this game, or other homebrew e-Reader games, you can find more information at www.retrodotcards.com. An incredibly friendly and talented person, Matt has developed some truly impressive games here. These are must-have cards if you own an e-Reader!

A new video is live on my channel. Join me as I discuss Animal Crossing's immense dialogue and what makes it tick. Definitely a more casual video with a relaxed focus this time around, but I hope you're able to enjoy it nonetheless. ✍️

A true triumph in video game history! This video uncovers a lot of pre-release 3DS demos, including the first ever look at a “playable” version of New Leaf’s 2010 E3 demo. Congratulations to James and the 3DS Challenge Team for an amazing release. 👀

Surprise! 25 3DS prototype builds are now available! Many come from E3 2010. There's plenty to explore as I go in-depth with these previews in this special video.

A new video is out now, covering one of Nintendo's most dangerous oversights; a remote code execution exploit within Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Special thanks to @pretendo.network for their help with this video! Hope you find it interesting! 🧱

Tune in Saturday, October 11th for a brand new video! Arguably one of the most interesting videos I'll ever upload. You won't want to miss it! 🥳

Thank you all for the kind birthday wishes! Spent yesterday visiting Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios for the very first time. Such an incredible park filled with so many details and references. I had an amazing time! Now, back to work on the editing grind. 💪

Was recently gifted these amazing Pokémon Center plushes that act as card displays. While I'm mostly known for Animal Crossing, I also collect Pokémon cards and thought these were neat! Maybe I'll share more of my collection from time to time. 🤔

We've finally discussed the obscurities, oddities, peculiarities, quirks, curiosities, niches, and nuances of all mainline Animal Crossing games! I've dubbed these videos "The Synonym Series" and you can now enjoy all of them under my updated playlists. Thanks for watching! 🍃

A new video is out now, covering the niche glitches and oddities of New Leaf! With this, our series on Animal Crossing oddity compilations comes to a close! However, something tells me we'll be revisiting New Leaf again real soon... 🍃

Tune in tomorrow, August 30th, for a brand new video on New Leaf! If you watched my previous video, you may have an idea of what this one will cover... time to round out the mainline series!🍃
