Making blatant imitations of other video games is generally frowned upon, unless you're making it into #roguelike, that is. So many games are "[insert classic game name], but roguelike". It works for games like 20xx, Poly Fighter, and Galactic Racer, so what's next? #roguishgames

I started listening today to the live performance of the soundtrack music from Hades 1 and 2 at London's Royal Festival Hall. It's exquisite, though TBF it's not as propulsive as the music in the game. Still a great listen for Hades fans. youtu.be/fvGSQFZWcwM?... #roguishgames

Some fun with searching for keywords in Steam reviews. People who misspell #roguelike as "rougelike" consistently review everything higher. [thread]

i find the wording of "traditional" roguelike to be a lot better. rogue legacy is a roguelike, caves of qud is a *traditional* roguelike. binding of isaac is a roguelike, nethack is a *traditional* roguelike. ykwim

Hades 2 was incredible, if it wasn't already obvious lol. Supergiant keeps making amazing games. The art, the music, the gameplay, the story, everything. Honestly, I'd call it a masterpiece. Go play Hades 2 #ScyReviews

Nice article but only shallowly addresses the progression systems of each game. It's a great group of games but not necessarily the ones RL fans prize for mechanics above all others. Many here are great *despite* their mechanical shortcomings like Returnal, Inscryption, CotL ...

Roguelike games need to absolutely nail their progression systems if they want to keep players coming back for more. These games do that.

Roguelite meta-progression exists because roguelikes were too punishing for most players to stay through a full run of losses. The genre adapted to a wider audience and kept the run-based structure. Was the compromise worth it or did something get lost? #roguelite #indiegames
