From a tomb inscription: “These famous antiquarians that had been Both Gardeners to the Rose and Lily Queen, Transplanted now themselves, sleep here and when Angels shall with their trumpets waken men, And fire shall purge the world, these three shall rise And change this Garden then for Paradise”

It’s from the Tradescant family tomb and has son, father, and grandfather buried in it. In the lovely garden museum by Lambeth palace.

The real Narnia discourse should be how come it’s impossible to buy Pauline Baynes illustrations as large format prints.

1st time reading Stick Man: What a lovely story. We’ll have it again tomorrow? 10th time reading Stick Man: Oh look, a nativity card behind Stick Man. 50th time reading Stick Man: so Jesus exists in the Stick Man universe? 100th time reading Stick Man: iS sTiCk mAN A fRaGment oF tHe tRUe cROsS?

Went into town to explore the Middlesbrough Arts Week & Turner Prize stuff. Great fun and entirely free. Didn’t get to see the Turner Prize as completely booked out though. #UTB

Me when discussing film adaptions of classic novels: “of course directors should adapt them to a different medium, it’s a good thing” Me when I see any new information about The Magician’s Nephew

Keswick Convention Football Shirt Count (week 3): Leeds: 5 Tottenham: 3 Arsenal: 3 (including the lovely black and green away kit) Ipswich: 2 (one the Sheeran Barca coloured shirt) Other single digits: Liverpool, Boro, Man City, Wolves, AVFC (nice Europa League white and blue one)

Thoughts on this. 1) very low ratio of shirts to attendee. Too middle class? Or just cold and rainy and everyone wearing coats. 2) significant lack of glory hunting, here are people who understand the gospel 3) what’s the deal with Leeds?

I’ve been workshopping Bastille Day jokes for the most of the match and it’s that or “Not the first time a French defence has collapsed on the 14th July”

The Church of England’s General Synod convenes in York this weekend. Please pray for us as we come together as one body in Christ. May we seek God faithfully and be guided by the hope and wisdom found in Jesus Christ.

Convinced England are now going to win the World Cup to prove that a) The Monkey's Paw exists, and b) Keir Starmer knows where it is.

I’m a big fan of football clubs having a terrible home kit every decade or so, just to make everyone appreciate their other home kits. Anyway, this is the new Newcastle kit
