Eric Bauza’s final film performance, as of right now, is Coyote VS ACME. Roadrunner’s testimony is one of his final character performances in the film. He says “Beep” around 46 times, that’s all he says. Yet it says everything about his strengths and passion as a voice actor, with just one word.

The Detective Inspector in Logopolis and DI Harry Naylor in Between the Lines. After the cover up of the horrific events of the Barnet Bypass, Naylor decides to stop pretending to be posh and clean up the force.

Name two characters you think are the same person.

Also explains Naylor’s hostility to ‘Five’- UNIT have already blocked him from questioning the female victim’s niece about what she saw and her mysterious sacking from Air Australia.

A brief look at two very different reviews of Doctor Who by the two very different men who reviewed it for The Spectator at the turn of the 1970s. Free to read on the site, but you can always pick up a free or paid subscription while you're there. buttondown.com/cooray_smith...

buttondown.comSpectators of the DoctorA very brief return to my beloved The Space Pirates; for a bit of archive for it that fell through the gaps in what I was writing, which can then lead us...

I was married to @cooraysmith.bsky.social for 6 years before he revealed that he was forklift-certified. I was married to him for 8 years before he revealed he had played Robert Hubert (Rouen watchmaker who falsely confessed to starting the Great Fire of London) in a Channel 4 Schools programme.

Another reason to thank @gossjam.bsky.social After his talk, I got the privilege of getting to tell Stephen Wyatt how much I loved his stories when I was a child. He was so gracious- I’ll treasure that. #TargetBookDay

It’s only the author of the best Doctor Who story of all talking about how we’re getting his stories wrong. #TargetBookDay

First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people! Mine: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980, Wigan. We were near the front and I can still remember how massive the AT-ATs looked, looming over us out of the snow :) Film, year, where, and whatever stuck with you.

S’good this. Does not include my suggestion that there’s a Dalek Supreme who bathes in white wine and mushrooms.

Can you help #DoctorWho #TargetBookClub? BBC Books had organised a Target Book Shop but it's fallen through. Do you know a cuddly trader who'd like a free table to sell Dr Who books? Maybe old Targets like the market stalls of our childhood?

I’m glad local MPs are speaking out about a Reform Councillor’s dating profile on a Nazi site, but given the seriousness I really hope that the phrasing is here is accidental.

So, what can the censorship history of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the UK teach us about the GLC, and devolution of powers more generally? Amazingly, it’s not nothing. Free to read on patreon, with free & £1 a month subscription options when you’re there. #yousavedthepcc

BFI have updated the episodes (Children of Auron and Terminal) and guests (Jan Chappell, Richard Clifford and MichaelTroughton) for the Blake’s 7 screening on Halloween:

Moving from a mixed state primary school to an all-girls private school, aged 7, in 1989. The cliques would probably have started by then anyway, but starting over with new people just compounded my sense of being thrown in at the deep end and being jeered at for not doing butterfly.

Brother staying over for an early train, asks to be woken up. 9 yo offers to handle it. With a deafening cry of “HE’S GOING TO LOVE THIS” he: - Sets up flamenco music on his tablet. - Dances into brother’s room. - Yells “WAKE UP NOW PLEASE” - Dances out of the room. Brother is, indeed, awakened.

I would also like to add Justin Johnson’s priceless Brian Blessed story from the recording of the Cutaway Comics bonus commentary. BB is merrily TALKING when he stops dead- “OH SHIT! I FORGOT KENNETH BRANAGH’S COMING TO TEA!” Followed by a confused Sir Kenneth looming into view on the webcam…

If you’re interested in this first, may I recommend my wonderful husband’s wonderful post on @middaymatinees.bsky.social about the first film? bsky.app/profile/midd...

I get the appeal of nostalgia, I really do, but I find it specifically funny to get a leaflet from Reform's candidate talking about how when he was in the Met 31 years ago, he would never have dreamed of lawlessness like the kind we now see in Kings Cross.
