The Great Fuckoffening has begun. Brilliant as per usual from the Juice Media.

The Government™ has made an ad about all these protests happening around the world, and it’s surprisingly honest and informative.

I hope Australians can also hold a grudge, & vote both major parties to minority positions, state & federal. We have been betrayed in so many ways - only a few pollies have demonstrated their stance for justice and some kind of sustainable future. You know who they are. #AusPol #VicVotes2026

If the B.C. election result stings for you tonight, remember that this province once forced a majority government to back down on a tax it had just brought in. A new government still answers to the same people who hired it.

Two more #AmanitaDesign mini-games before I finally get to 'Machinarium'. 'Questionaut' was a short edu-game for the BBC, with simple #PointAndClick puzzles to trigger a quiz, 10 minutes to finish. 'Plachý Trpaslík'(aka 'Shy Dwarf') breaks the mould, being a tiny (5 minutes to finish) platformer.

So #my9films mostly look more mainstream and predictable than I expected, but these are the films I rewatched to a fanatical degree growing up. Presented in chronological order, cos I honestly couldn't rank them. But I'd happily rewatch anything here right now. #movies

It’s still yesterday in the US, so here’s my #LastFourWatched for #LetterboxdFriday: - Fun rewatch, not as good as I recalled. - Patchy doc but lots of Morphine footage I hadn't seen before. - Cinematic conclusion to one of the best anime series in years. - More classic Yuen clan madness!

The second of Spike's books I'd read (first was 'Bad Jelly the Witch' at primary school) though by then I was familiar with the Goons and Q series. Interesting re-read 40 years later - an improvement on first novel 'Puckoon', being a solid mix of trademark humour and genuine poignancy in parts. 💙📚

Just back home from seeing Bill Bailey at Hamer Hall in town, which was brilliant as expected - think I might have even enjoyed this one more than his previous show a few years back. #comedy #melbourne

Amanita point n click fun once more. Having done a couple of short promo games it was time to replay Samorost 2. Several times larger than Samorost, but still a relatively short experience, it took about an hour to rescue my dognapped lil' companion and bring him home once again. #AdventureGame

Tonight's movie was 'Taoism Drunkard', another bout of Yuen clan insanity in the vein of 'Miracle Fighters' and 'Shaolin Drunkard'. Despite being more disjointed than its predecessors, I think I enjoyed this more. Just don't ask me what it's actually about, as honestly I'm still not sure! ☯️ 🤷‍♂️

According to my records I read (and enjoyed) the original Artemis Fowl books back in 2012, along with my kids. This starter for a new series came out in 2019, but somehow I've only just gotten to it, and regret not doing so sooner, as it was a fast and fun read - the twins' dynamic is great. 💙📚

Lost count of the number of times I've rewatched 'Highlander', and sure maybe I've seen other films more, but once rewatched it seven times in a single day. (Late 80s share house, pirated copy played from housemate's camcorder plugged into communal telly, no money and nothing better to do. 🤷‍♂️)

what's a movie you've seen a commendable amount of times?

I mean, it's right there in the tagline: "There Can Be Only One".

I would have said "Highlander", but there was never a sequel. Or another one after that. Or another after that. Nothing. Never. Ever. Just the one film, in all its bonkers, cheesy, absolute glory. That's how unnecessary any hypothetical sequel, which I repeat, DOES NOT EXIST, would be.

Name a film with a bad, unnecessary sequel.

Belated #LetterboxdFriday, cos it’s still Friday in parts of the world. Here’s my #LastFourWatched - Rewatch, after OG ‘Clerks’ my fave Smith movie. - Rewatch after 40+ years, after reading the OG stories. - 4,768th rewatch 😉 - Gloriously psychedelic, the only superhero movies worth a damn for me.

Just finished 'The Road to Mars' by Eric Idle. An op shop find, it's not bad, mixing sci-fi, an exploration/treatise on comedy, and a mystery/thriller plot, narratively framed 80 years after the events. Eric’s no Douglas Adams, but this was still an enjoyable “comedy sci fi” read for me. 💙📚

After Samorost, Amanita did two short (handful of screens each) mini-games, 'Rocketman' for Nike and 'The Quest for the Rest' for The Polyphonic Spree. I'd only played 'Quest, before, so finished both, in 20 mins total. 'Quest' was quite lovely; 'Rocketman' didn't do it for me,. #AdventureGames

Amanita Design nostalgia trip. I’d played the OG Samorost browser game back in 2003, but this time it was the free 2021 'Samorost 1' remaster. Finished in about 15 minutes - the briefest of delights, but it's given me the taste for more of that charming organic Amanita weirdness. #AdventureGame

Finished 'Darby O’Gill and the Good People', by Herminie Templeton Kavanagh. This 1903 story collection was fun, though I admit it took longer than expected to read, owing to use of dialect throughout. e.g. "... bekase whin once purvoked she has few ayquils for sarcastic langwidge." 😉 💙📚#folklore

Just finished 'The Ruby in the Smoke' by Philip Pullman. This is an enjoyable YA novel with a plucky young heroine in Victorian London, who finds herself enmeshed in a murder-filled mystery connected to the opium trade. Apparently the first novel in a series, I'll have to hunt the others down. 💙📚
