As gas prices rise, margin based price setting benefits the supplier and penalises the consumer leading to record profits. That’s kind of okay if companies pay the tax that is due, but so often they don’t.

Talking with some friends yesterday who said, “we never got the Brexit we were promised, we’re still being controlled by the ECHR”. I pointed out that it has nothing to do with the EU and in fact the UK was a founder member. It just demonstrates the effectiveness of right wing propaganda.

IT WAS NEVER THE IMMGRANTS IN SMALL BOATS The world is 700% richer than in 1970 but the average person is only 8% richer Because the richest 0.01% are 4000% richer We are all being robbed every second of every day, and it doesn't matter how much profit or growth there is It will never reach you

So far this week we had a not so secret meeting between the US and Russia followed by rumours of the US pulling troops out of Europe. Is Europe about to be attacked by Russia with the US just watching from a safe distance?

Quite often you hear of people ‘retiring to Spain’. Indeed we even have TV programmes promoting moving to Spain and Portugal. It would be a shame if Spain got a right wing politician like Farage. Indeed they may already have one, as I am sure someone here will be able to clarify.

Absolutely!!!! I met someone who called herself and 'ex-pat' and she said she'd left the UK "because there are too many immigrants". She socialised only with other 'ex-pats' because she couldn't be arsed to learn the host language. We didn't part as friends.

So let me get this straight: digital ID was a policy that wasn’t funded. Hm, so you announced a policy without knowing how you were going to cover the cost? So why is announcing another policy to replace this one worse than what you announced?

Did Farage not think through what could happen if he resigned and stood to be re-elected? Surely it occurred to him there was a possibility that everyone would just stand by and let him be re-elected unopposed. Luckily there is a challenger! However, with tactical voting Farage might even lose.

Now that net immigration figures are down, Farage and his mates have to find a new target.

Immigrants & asylum seekers are not our enemies. They are not responsible for the austerity, privatisation, erosion of civic life, thinning of democracy and concentration of power we suffer. But they're being punished for these things. Punished at the behest of the very people who *are* responsible.

UK media taking delight in the fact that they are removing yet another PM. We need stability. But I guess they won’t be happy until they have installed Farage into Downing Street, which would be a complete disaster for ordinary people.

Trump, Netanyahu and Putin have either sanctioned or threatened to sanction acts that constitute war crimes. All 3 need to be removed from office along with their respective ministers, investigated and, if appropriate, prosecuted for war crimes. If found guilty they have to be punished.

“Trickle down” is actually “flooding up”

Your April Fools' Day Reminder that trickle-down economics is the greatest trick of all. It's nothing more than a cruel hoax designed to enrich corporations and the super-rich at your expense. Don't fall for it.

The UK passport office is a complete joke. As part of a passport application the passport office asked for an original copy of a uk birth certificate. It was ordered and paid we paid extra for next day delivery. It arrived on Monday.

Trump started the war with Iran with little forethought as to how Iran might respond. He now demands that other countries come to help rectify the mess he has created. Quite rightly all other countries are saying that they have no intention in escalating this war.

If Putin is really supporting Iran and vice versa, will he ditch Trump by making public whatever hold he has over him? Or would he prefer to keep him in play? Where does the other big player, China, sit in all this mess?

Beautiful from Private Eye on the massive toddler-tantrum that Matt Goodwin and Reform are having, because they got whooped in Gorton and Denton.

Just looked at booking a return train journey from Leeds to York, a distance of around 30 miles each way. Each journey offered different costs for out and return. Given that our rail services will be owned by us, when will we have standardised fares based on distance travelled?

There’s a new immigration law coming into effect 25/2/26. If you have a parent who was born in the UK and is a UK national you are automatically a UK national too, regardless of where you were born. So, if you want to visit the UK you will need either a UK passport or a certificate of entitlement.

A certificate of entitlement costs £589!!! It is estimated that in Australia alone there are some 250,000 Aussies who were born in Australia but have one or two UK national parents. I am just waiting for the UK passport office to report that they are being inundated with applications from overseas

I’m not playing this stupid game with Reform or any of their multimillionaire groupies, vilifying immigrants and moaning about the benefits bill from their tax havens and Dubai penthouses. Then lying about what they said and why. Reform is a racist party. Relying on racist votes for power. End of.

The Epstein Files saga is finally demonstrating to ordinary people just how the privileged class operates. It looks like they believe that they are above the law and can do whatever they want to do. Our labour is funding this class and we have to find a way to redress the balance.

When someone breaks the law of your country and is resident in another country you would normally rely on extradition to get them into the country where the crime was committed. Now that seems to have been replaced with extraction.

Time and again the people of the UK have shown that they are absolutely rubbish at picking political leaders. It’s time for a new leader come forward, not Farage, not Badenock, not Starmer, and to ignore all the crap and just sort out the mess that we are in. We need to get real.

This from the man who is blowing Venezuelan boats out of the water and hijacking an oil tanker: “But we always take people from Somalia, places that are a disaster, right? Filthy, dirty, disgusting, ridden with crime. The only thing they’re good at is going after ships.”

#COP30 witnesses China taking a massive global lead in the production of renewable energy. Whilst here in the UK we are firmly focused on whether or not the BBC is biased and whether our immigration system is fit for purpose. We need to wake up and get in the game.
