We flounced out of the EU on the say-so of politicians who lied to us. And what a total shitshow that’s turned out to be. The polar opposite of what they promised. Now the call to flounce out of the ECHR. By the same people. Telling the same lies. Has the country been kicked in the head by a horse?

Jenrick has set out how Reform would maximise our “Brexit freedoms”. And this is their list. This is the very best they can come up with. “Re-legalise imperial units” It’s truly pathetic that this is the pinnacle of their Brexit fever dream. And that anyone would still back this ruinous idiocy…

I was having conversations with journalists just a few months ago about whether democracy was doomed. Look at this year: Orban defeated. Vukic defeated. Bolsonaro Jr defeated. Trump heading to likely defeat in midterms. That’s the beauty of democracy. Voters can respond. Don’t count it out yet.

What is the BBC's justification for maintaining this level of coverage of Reform now it has slipped into third place?

Alex Andreou@sturdyalex.bsky.social

BBC News just interrupted its coverage to go, live, to Nigel Farage - a man with no contitutional standing in our setup - responding to the budget - a document which nobody has seen yet. WHY

Bolsonaro's loss is not just a loss for Bolsonaro. It's a loss for Trump. For Musk. For Milei. For Netanyahu. For Farage. For Meta and Zuckerberg. For the meat barons, the fossil fuel corporations, and the rest of the neocolonial looters. And it is a massive win for humanity and the living planet.

Genuinely I don't know that it comes across to people who haven't been here to watch how almost unbelievable this was, just people taking something that looked impossible and dragging it kicking and screaming all the way to inevitability.

Doesn’t matter how you voted if you were front and centre in a Brexit government, actively overseeing the shrinking of our economy, our influence and our opportunities, while you rolled around in the trough. We’ll be disregarding everything you now say, thanks.

Brexit and Russia… “I think you would have to start with Boris Johnson. “The reason why there is still this confusion is there was no public attempt to establish with confidence what actually happened because successive British governments declined to look closely at what was going on.” (Times)

To carry out a referendum as they did, then to implement Brexit as they did and then to fail to scrutinise any of it - as they have done ever since - is an epic abuse of power and betrayal of our country by those charged to act in its best interests. Fault lines that will undermine Brexit forever.
