In the Super Bowl era, NFL teams are an unsurprising 2797-68 when allowing 7 or fewer points in a game. Except for the 1988 Chiefs. They went an almost-impossible 0-3 in those games, losing 3-6 vs Cleveland, 6-7 at Houston, and 6-7 vs Detroit. Only 3 other teams even lost 2 such games in a season.

The Chiefs announced that they have agreed to contracts with the following people for the remainder of the 2024 season: Steven Nelson Justin Houston Frank Clark Daniel Sorensen Marcus Peters Sammy Watkins Byron Pringle Jerick McKinnon Eric Bieniemy Joe Montana Some help before the playoffs.

Shoutout to Xavier Worthy, who made two gigantic plays last night that might get lost in the box score: 🏈 11-yard catch on 3rd-and-7 that eventually led to DeAndre Hopkins' touchdown 🏈 14-yard catch on 3rd-and-10 that kept the game-winning drive alive

And I mean this in the most sincere way. I adore being a Chiefs fan when they're not playing. Wouldn't want to be a fan of any other team. It's the best. But when they're playing, it's the worst. I hate it so much. The stress and frustration and disappointment is out of control.

Mike Tirico said there are folks in Baltimore and Denver pulling for the Chiefs tonight. lmaoooooo imagine being that disconnected from NFL fans.

The Chiefs have just the third-best point differential in their own division...and are 11-1 and in position for the #1 seed with just five weeks to go. It's been a strange season. I tried to make sense of it with Taylor and Austin. Not sure if we succeeded, but we had fun trying.

Be sure to tune into the pod this week as @birdlawexpert.bsky.social and I welcome back to the show @jazayerli.bsky.social as we discuss the Chiefs usage of devil magic, their chances for improvement this year, and the road to the Threepeat. redcircle.com/shows/235314...

iphone tried to join the 21st century by allowing MMS messages finally but it's been a total disaster. As an Android user, now every time I text iphones it'll say "waiting to deliver until the user is online" and sometimes they'll just... never get it? smh, so frustrating.

When the Bengals got blown out by the Eagles to drop to 3-5, Joe Burrow said "10 wins normally gets you in, so we just need to win 7 of our last 9." They have gone 1-3 since then. Oops.

omg, the last play the Raiders called was supposed to just be a throwaway pass to eat more time before the FG attempt. There were only 16 seconds left! The Chiefs won because of the 13 seconds game. 16 seconds was too much time to leave them. Incredible.

Without looking anything up, how many times do you suppose two NFC South teams have met in the playoffs? Even before the division was called that, just how many total playoff matchups do you think there are between the Bucs Saints Falcons and Panthers? I will reveal the answer later today.

The answer for the other divisions, for context: AFC East: 14 AFC West: 9 AFC North: 10 AFC South: 3 NFC East: 14 NFC West: 8 NFC North: 6 NFC South: ?

Fewest number of seasons for consecutive playoff victories over a single opponent: 3 wins - 3 years (Cowboys over 49ers 70-72, Cowboys over Packers 93-95, Packers over 49ers 95-97) 4 wins - 9 years (Vikings over Rams 69-77) 5 wins - 12 years (49ers over Packers 12-23) The Bills better watch out.

If the Chiefs win against the Bills in the playoffs again, it could happen in 2026 or earlier and would set the record for fewest seasons for 4 consecutive playoff victories over one opponent. If the Chiefs win again, it could happen in 2030 or earlier and it would set the record for 5 consecutive.
