Behind sterling middle relief work from Anthony Gose and Craig Kimbrel, and a home run and 4 RBIs off the bench from Josh Rojas, the Royals beat the Guardians again in Cleveland, their 12th win in 13 games. For the love of God, somebody please make this make sense.

Appearing on a video game podcast was a bucket list item I didn't even know was on my bucket list. I've podcasted with Ben regarding our shared love for baseball, for Foundation (books and show), and now video games. If we weren't born 11 years apart, I'd wonder if we were separated at birth.

I love most everybody here, but let's face facts: on most topics, Bluesky is an echo chamber. And I don't see the point in talking into, or listening in on, an echo chamber. Our voting process is biased against the left, but we still turn out to vote, because we have to fight anyway. Same with X.

Thank you for this information. Why are you not posting on BlueSky? This is a sincere question. Thank you.

Breaking my Bluesky silence to point out that Abdul El-Sayed absolutely *is* a physician, he has always been very up front about the fact that he chose public health over residency, and this is a hit piece nothingburger from a news outlet terrified of a politician who is unabashedly pro-Palestinian.

Team McMorrow@teammcmorrow.bsky.social

Turns out Abdul El-Sayed misrepresented, over and over, being a physician. He’s not. The truth? He’s never held a medical license, never did a residency, and never passed his boards.

And if you just can't go that long without hearing my voice, here is some more content for you.

If you didn’t listen to Monday’s Kauffman Corner with @sorenpetro.bsky.social and @jazayerli.bsky.social, you may have missed why there’s no show today. Rany is taking a step back, and I’m moving to Sundays to try to fill his big shoes. So Soren & I will be with you on Sundays going forward.

In some ways that was the most impressive win of the season. Tied after 6, with Harvey, Erceg, and Estevez unavailable, Quatraro pushed the right buttons and Bobby's speed spooked the Twins into a 3-base error on a comebacker. The Twins are kicking themselves for losing this one. Those are the best.

Ok, they just put up the video...like his 464-footer, this one also came on an 0-2 count LOL. And this one was off a lefty. We may not be hyping him up enough.

Rany Jazayerli@jazayerli.bsky.social

This one went 468 feet. Only longer homers by a Royal at Kauffman Stadium in the Statcast Era: 474 feet by Brandon Moss in 2017 469 feet by Kendrys Morales in 2015

I'm so old that I hear "Kamehameha" and I think of the first ruler of the Kingdom of Hawaii, and the name of the high school in Honolulu that guys get drafted from occasionally. But I'm glad the Royals have young people on their social media team. This is cool.

His power level, it's over 9,000!!!

464 feet. In the entire Statcast era, you can count the number of times a Royal has hit a longer home run at Kauffman Stadium on one hand. The punchline: it was ON AN 0-2 PITCH.

Cody Tapp@codybtapp.bsky.social

Jac Caglianone just hit it out of the entire ballpark

It's possible the Milwaukee Brewers are just bad. But man, it's hard not to get a little excited about the Royals after what they've done this afternoon. Kris Bubic looked like he did in San Francisco 2 years ago. Maikel Garcia is slugging 1.000. I'll take "Things You Love To See" for $1,000, Ken.

Between Maikel tying the game with a home run and Daniel Lynch getting the win by retiring all six batters he faced, it was a good day for the two post-hype sleepers I am hoping will earn big roles for the team this year.

FINAL: Royals 4, Guardians 3 #HEYHEYHEYHEY

Hunter Renfroe went 0-for-4 on Opening Day, but if he had just performed the bare minimum on defense-not turning Kyle Manzardo's 2B into a 3B in the 4th-the Royals would have won. He should be a platoon player. So this lineup is heartening. The Royals are better with Garcia at 3B than Renfroe in RF.

Back in action.

I can't say I expected when spring training opened that Cavan Biggio would start at 1B today, but that's a temporary glitch. The roster got through ST with no major injuries. Bubic is in the rotation. The hard throwers in the bullpen appear healthy. The vibes are good. 88-74 is the prediction. LFG.

I have reservations about the liberal echo chamber that Bluesky is currently - and I say that as a professed liberal. (I might have more on that later.) But for now, it's Opening Day, and try as I might, I can't shut up forever. So let me try this place out.

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.

Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying. They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks. From WCVB: youtu.be/PuFIs7OkzYY

Any chance you have to get Vinnie Pasquantino to come on your podcast, you have to take it. This ought to be a delightfully fun conversation.

Bluesky isn't quite ready for prime time when it comes to covering the fall of a tyrannical regime, so I have been sharing my thoughts on Twitter. But suffice it to say that this is an incredible, and incredibly happy, moment in time. Assad is gone. Syria is free. Now the tricky part begins.

The Chiefs have just the third-best point differential in their own division...and are 11-1 and in position for the #1 seed with just five weeks to go. It's been a strange season. I tried to make sense of it with Taylor and Austin. Not sure if we succeeded, but we had fun trying.

Taylor Witt@iasick.com
