"Why megadungeons?" My pitch is that they are a campaign format that concentrates ideas, maximizes novelty, uses familiarity to advantage, and can be run in 2-4 hour sessions. Plus, between Silk Song and Delicious in Dungeon- everyone knows what they are! icastlight.blogspot.com/2025/09/why-...

Perfect for a Halloween 1-shot! And @directsun.bsky.social has done a great job with the digital tools here

Another Interesting Thing: Lair of the Lamb has been compressed and amputated into a smaller one-shot by Directsun. Despite it's smaller size, it still retains all its sharp edges. 🐑 Lair of the Lamb: One-Shot Edition | Just the Games share.google/jTLd6NmG8q4O...

Of all the things I want preserved from the OSR, I think this is #1. I think it’s sorta the OSR’s Blackmoor.

I thought I had lost these. My maps of @necropraxis.bsky.social’s Pahvelorn. Do the youth even know this was the greatest campaign ever? Hugely influential to me, and many others. Grognardia walked so Brendan could run and all that.

I've got a special treat today! We organized a collaborative project in @prismaticwasteland.com's discord. Our goal was a hexcrawl project inspired by OVER THE GARDEN WALL. This is the PRISMATIC PUMPKINCRAWL. 31 powderkeg-packed hexes. It's completely free. mindstormpress.itch.io/prismatic-pu...

Ran across a Reddit thread where, after hours of work, a DM realized their key city could not realistically feed itself. And they dropped it. I thought that was a lost opportunity to talk about the role of gods in D&D & do some light worldbuilding: icastlight.blogspot.com/2026/10/this...

The Designing Dungeons Course has… leveled up! If you are interested in dungeons, please checkout this Ennie-award winning, *free* guild to dungeon design

Rise Up (From the Grave) Comus@riseupcomus.bsky.social

I have improved the Designing Dungeons Course (dungeons.hismajestytheworm.games) with the Just the Games widgets (games.puzzledungeon.com). Now, the site has an expanded left navigation bar, persistent popout windows on hover, and a dice tray in case you want to randomize your procedures! Check it!

I am excited about how these grey ruined walls turned out. Cardboard, caulk, texture roller, black matte rattle can, and two dry brushes of grey

Cost a single (c). I'd put this at the dead end of a very long hallway. In a closet. Or maybe on top of a tall column.

If you like your sword and sorcery with a dose of the weird, it’s a must buy… as it’s said ““tightly efficient value to weight ratio””

I have returned! And with me I bring potentially the greatest feat of ecommerce that man, the most prodigious animal in the sphere of merchandising, has ever accomplished, my own website! Yes now YOU can purchase a copy of BASILEUS 1 and I will send it to you! Go to comicstrongbox.square.site

On risk: In last night’s game of @inplacesdeep.bsky.social Cuccagna game, my acolyte of the Sea King, Sklares the Downed, charged a construct from the outer spheres with his sword Wizard’s Bane. At 14 hp, this was a huge risk but encouraged a second charge by another PC! +4 to-hit…rolled a 5

My landlord is threatening to move to legal notices if I don't pay the remaining arrears by this friday, Oct 16th. I know pretty much everyone is going through it right now, but anything you can throw my way can help. ko-fi.com/O4O8CAE3

This is good stuff! OD&D campaigns are like good cocktails, solid spirit base plus a 2-3 twists really make potent stuff. Also checkout the other posts in this series!

Everyone grapples with OD&D at some point, puzzling out the idiosyncratic rules and wondering how they'll use them. In this post, I reimagine the OD&D spell list for my fairytale fantastic campaign setting: In the House of the High King

“But Warren, how did you get your BX MU to such a high level in Nightwick?” Well, always have a hireling around, but let me show you this helpful graphic that summarizes the general strategy…

In Book 2: Monsters & Treasure, we encounter the titular dragons. They're almost like Pokemon, with a list of elemental breaths, strengths, and weaknesses. In the middle of these stats, we get rules for Subduing Dragons. +

1st round of combat, party busts in and 50% of the hirelings run in fear to the dragon's size. The other 50% are now under its thrall. 2nd round of combat, the fighter, ranger, and cleric are starting to get new ideas about what they could do with that sorta power backing them

3rd round hobbit puts on magic ring, turns invisible, and leaves in spite of those shadows that come and the elf and dwarf just roll their eyes and use a potion of gaseous form they've lugged around for 100 sessions to escape, vowing to pick better friends in the next 100 years.

... hobbits just find too much, and it gets in the way of merriment ... dwarves deep down want it all for themselves and are stubbon ... elves are magical enough to resist such serpent magic and frankly know better

I use @gnarledmonster.bsky.social Beyond the Borderlands as a great setting for nice little campaign (see below) with my fam, so I am looking forward to this work too!

NEW at Save vs. Worm! MORE DUNGEON!!! Improvised a dungeon on a post-it note and then wrote up a vaguely Halloween-y room key for it! There's a mad scientist, ghouls, a robot, two-headed wasps, and a trap that fills the room with blood! #OSR #TTRPG savevsworm.blogspot.com/2026/10/post...

Chris Huth@umlauthuth.bsky.social

I'm also looking for more illustration work in the near future. Check out my portfolio at www.chrishuth.com

I like this/jealous of this write up because it establishes the PC in the world, gives the player a couple of goals to aim for, and incorporates more solidly domain building from the start

How do you write a fighter class that's interesting? How do you take standard fantasy and make it fresh? How do you frame campaign setting details without giving reading homework? How do you set up a long-term campaign from session 0? Here's my pitch: riseupcomus.blogspot.com/2026/09/knig...
