I've been thinking about what I wanted the Game Burning podcast's website to do for years. Then I found out how much web dev has changed since I last touched it. So in a burst of creativity, I finally started building it: GameBurning.com 🔥

My mom is visiting, and we're staying at a hotel together, so I don't have to go back to my flat every night. I checked in to the hotel before going to pick her up from the airport, and when the receptionist saw that I was using a Portuguese ID card, they tried talking to me in Portuguese.

I told them I don't speak Portuguese and they started telling me how important it is for me to learn. Am I taking a class? I should!

Through the fire and the flame we carry on

I need a keybinding for "reload project" in #Godot because I do that _very_ often.

Ah, okay, you can do that!

I have a breakthrough in level design. It takes maps to a whole new level. Literally solved my “the maps look too symmetrical” problem. I’m excited!

YouTube recommends random videos to me. Okay, something looks good. Listening... listening... I see they’re talking about a game I knew, but not closely: Townscaper.

I get up in the morning, start researching the creator (Oskar Stålberg), and discover he’s the "Jesus of grid maps". He created a new approach that’s now a big name in the procedural generation space and gets invited to talk about his games at pretty much every conference.

"Ohuhu Alcohol Markers 48 Brush & Chisel for Adult Coloring" Oh my oh my. Who knew this purchase would be the start of an obsession? I've fallen off it a bit, but it's still the most fun I've had with art in a long time.

"Logitech MX Ergo S mouse with advanced wireless trackball" I've wanted to switch to a trackball for a long time. It certainly takes time to get used to. I'm still having difficulty with precise tasks.

I’m usually not moved when a company shuts down, other than the impact on its employees, but #BioWare really was a significant part of my life. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say I wouldn’t be who I am today without them.

In 2000, I read sci-fi and fantasy books and realized there was a thing called “role-playing games,” but I didn’t know what it was. I went to a computer store and saw the box for Baldur’s Gate 2.

The game’s manual explained what AD&D was. So I got deep into cRPGs, and also learned what TTRPGs are.
