...ok no actually I'm watching a longplay of the DLCs now and THAT's when they finally do the obvious more interesting thing with the story? The thing I was waiting half the game for? I mean I guess I'm glad they did it at all but why not outright put it in the base game?!

The finale of the base game is crumbs of what's hinted at as the Interesting Thing Going On starting in like chapter two. Why don't they properly go there until the dlc???

the epidemic of modern game studios having no faith in the player to solve things on their own infecting a franchise that was primarily fun BECAUSE of its arcane systems and feeling of overcoming the odds is so so so disappointing

I started a new mhwilds save so sorry you're going to get me bitching about what they did to this beautiful franchise for the next few days.

It’s interesting that they can always find the money when necessary. We just have to make it necessary

It's kind of annoying actually how there are cool moments sometimes, genuine artistry on display. Annoying, because they're trapped in this mid game that ironically gets writing fundamentals wrong. Unfortunate, since it's more narrative than anything else.

One more thing I will say is that this game is a rare case of jumpscares I actually kinda like? The cheap ones are predictable and interactable enough that they're not a problem, but more surprisingly I actually like the mind's eye flashes.

Today's mental state: considering bribing myself with treats not to play a specific game. Not for any good reason, but because active media choices are just about the only thing I have control of in my life nowadays.

The reasoning behind said choice is half that I have other things to do/play and that, really, am I doing bad enough this week that it calls for a comfort game like that?

I'm not a TOS girlie nor fan of the comedy inherent to Chekov's character, but I'll say this for Koenig: his performance in Babylon 5 was great and made more both impressive and jarring by the contrast of what he's better known for. Go see for yourselves.

It is a little funny how steam doesn't claim compat data as its responsibility. Like oh, those 100GB+ of installs into a virtual windows environment under steamapps? Who knows what that could be. It's not mine! Not my problem!

Like yeah fair steam has no way of knowing my makeshift ffxiv install is a whole-ass modern mmorpg client shunted into what's supposed to be a few hundred MB of digital scaffolding but regardless when you ask:

compat data very much does die if steam lets go of it, is the thing. If I remove that non-steam item from my library I will in fact lose what took hours to install instantly.

a decent fraction of my twitter selfies would qualify. Maybe it'd be fun to dig them up and put them side by side with post-diagnosis candids

Spicy photo collection idea: A series of selfies taken before gender clinic appointments where trans people are performing their gender the most for the clinician's gaze in the hope of getting access to the healthcare they need.

"First horror game", she said, so confident there was going to be time for more than like two. At this rate I'm lucky if I do get two in.

It's not even Bad bad like the first two hours make it look. It's just really mid and has barely enough going for it you can't help but wish it were good.

as someone who never paid attention to the internet's current main character, I'm stunned by how overtly abusive he is as a boss. Why did people reward him so grossly for being such a piece of shit to everyone, friend and foe alike?

random exhausted father at a thrift shop today sat down at a piano to deliver a beautiful rendition of the FFX title theme, and summoned a small congregation of nerds in the process. Makes me kind of want to try my hand at it myself, even though I know it'd take years and years of practice.

The more shit keeps happening in the computer hardware ecosystem the happier I am with having picked up a light gaming laptop right in the sweet spot where crypto mining was calming down and the ai craze hadn't gotten started yet

A year in I was questioning the choice, especially the detail of decent overall specs vs just "Does it run 2D indies?" and a decent drive. In the past two years it's been my most important possession in practice and I'm so glad it can run last generation's AAAs.

Sorry still thinking of $1,200-$1,800 dollar console just conceptually. Those are Real Computer numbers. You can just get a real computer for that kinda cash. The entire premise of the console is “this is a baby computer you don’t control but it’s standardized and affordable” but they can’t do that.

...now excuse me while I go lie down and ride out the dizzy spell my supposedly impossible disability has given me for writing this rant before it gets much worse and lasts a whole week. Y'know, the thing I'm supposed to keep working an office job through.

I had a good time learning what was beyond the treelines here and at my former workplace, yes. I also hate how it ruined the illusion of dense sprawling forests looking at them from outside.

The Play if you want to optimise things is obviously to go out there exactly one time. The novelty of the place will make it seem bigger than it is while you get some of the joy of seeing it for yourself. The catch is of course it sucks to limit yourself to one time.

lmao how the fuck am I, who haven't even Properly studied security, more qualified to speak on this than the guy whose job at the fucking bbc it is to speak on this sort of thing?

John O’Donnell@jodami.bsky.social

Maybe the BBC should get someone who actually knows what he is talking about then.

Trans healthcare feels like such a fucking joke when I'm being passed between two endos who keep contradicting each other and I know that neither of them are right in the first place.
