I’ve met Andrea during WCEU in Paris, he’s a great contributor, a very nice guy and a good open source citizen. I can’t say the same about the one who ordered to remove his commit access. I hope he can safely get over this nuts way of behaving with an involved contributor.

First and formost is it trustworthy ? Considering the project’s leadership and total lack of ethics or gouvernance rules, I’d think twice Even before asking all other questions !

Is WordPress secure enough for a bank, hospital, or government agency? 🤔 That question is bigger than WordPress itself. In regulated environments, security also depends on identity, hosting, data flows, logging, vendors, deployments, and recovery. 🔗 https://ow.ly/7I0M50ZXy0H #EnterpriseWordPress

« “WordPress” means several different things, and Mullenweg is at the center of most of them. » I think « all of them » could be used… #SPOF

WP Engine's lawsuit against Automattic turns two today. From a keynote and an 8% royalty demand to a jury trial that's a year away, here's where it stands and why it's far from over. 🔗

«That structure worked for two decades. It also made Mullenweg difficult to separate from the organization he built. He chairs Automattic's board, leads Automattic and remains a central authority in the separate WordPress open-source project.» => Typical SoD & potential conflicts-of-interest issues

runtimewire.comAutomattic says Matt Mullenweg is CEO again after board-ordered leaveAutomattic calls founder Matt Mullenweg chairman and CEO after a board-ordered leave, though no public board statement documents his formal reinstatement.

« Matt decided that he sort of felt ready to start a company. He approached me and said I’d love to do this. I don’t know anything about running a company, do you want to be CEO? » & « Toni Schneider (…) is no longer on the board, according to sources » Interesting points !

After the chaos, WP is back to the status quo. Mullenweg claims to have built an Open Web. He built a MullenWeb. Don’t expect change: remember his scorched-earth approach. WP’s SPOF will fail with its owner. The way forward is to fork, reboot and build a true Open Web that is ethical by design.

Sad but so true: « The actions of WordPress leadership have legitimately affected the number of people who are using and recommending it. These are the exact type of people who helped push WP to where it is and now the leadership is pushing them away.
