I would like to reach the point where I feel better after cutting off all my vices, lest I run back to my vices to feel better.

I’ve had more social interaction today than the whole year combined. Now to lock myself in my cave for the next six months

gonna play that new final fantasy until my eyes bleed and fall out then keep playing so I don't have to look at the horribly compressed fmv they decided to inject for some reason (game is real good despite that but ughghgh)

wakes up, opens bsky, several mutuals subtweeting each other, close bsky, carry large boulder to the ferries, chain it to my leg, throw it and myself into the sound

being a fan of 2000s era anime means all your favorite shows are either forever locked in SD or have such terrible HD remasters that the DVDs go up in price exponentially

in the 2010s the biggest complaint indie devs had was how hard it was to get your game published on steam, xbox, and the ps3. They all called for the barriers to be torn down and to let anyone publish. In 2026 the complaint is that there are too many games being published.

Now that we have AI and anyone can churn 15 different sliding puzzle porn games out a day, it is very obvious we need to go back to the days of manually curated, limited weekly slots for games. Will we? I doubt it, it's hard to stop a firehose, and discoverability is a dev/consumer problem.

I just find it ironic that we're in this position because this is exactly what we asked for in the first place. "Who are valve to determine if a game is good enough to be on their store" vs "please daddy valve smite the slop from your store and surface the good games please"

And for the most part they were. Greenlight is gone. XBLA day is a memory of the past. While there are still some small hurdles to overcome when publishing on the major platforms, they're trivial in comparison. Even before AI stores were starting to get flooded with garbage, steam being the worst.

Discoverability went from one to three indie games a week to hundreds a day. Instead of being one of a handful of games put front and center in front of customers every week, developers now had to figure out how to get the store algorithms to surface their game in the first place.

The goals were obviously to put some sort of checks and limits in place to prevent low quality slop (pre AI) from flooding stores. Not to say there were no bad, poor quality games being published back then, indie or AAA. Obviously there were. But even the worst games were still vetted to some degree

And still, the limits were too harsh, too asinine for people to follow. We (rightfully) started asking questions like "who is MS/Valve to determine a game's quality for us?" and more and more calls went out to lift the limits completely.

Everyone thought the slot system was asinine. As indie games grew in popularity and started earning serious money, more and more indie devs came out to talk about how impossible it was for their games to get in the system in the first place.

Eventually we started seeing programs like steam Greenlight and Xbox Live Indie Games, where the barriers were lifted just ever so slightly. It still wasn't enough. Greenlight cost money, disenfranchising economically poor devs. XLIG was a separate section you had to hunt for to even find.

In 2010, game indie game discoverability was opening the xbla store on wednesday and deciding if the game that came out this week was worth the points. Microsoft had a strict slot system for xbla published games, and indie devs often had to use their contacts at larger publishers to use their slot

(this is a gross oversimplification, as time went on the number of slots grew but it was still a number that was smaller than 10. This is obviously important)

on the cycle where my body has me bolting upright, fully awake and ready to start the day at 5am. Which means at some point in the next month getting me out of bed before 11 will be an impossibility

Looking at the official bamco paint jobs on the Gundam Assemble minis and they're very well executed - but do not look like gundam. I think many of the methodologies we use to paint warhammer/historical minis don't work on Gundam, which has always had a clean, glossy look its mecha.

not really enjoying how most high end ereaders (the only ones with physical buttons now) are mostly selling themselves as productivity tablets that just also happen to be ereaders.

I'm happy with my kobo clara color but I hate touching the screen for page turns. The first gen kindle had it right imo.

finally coming to terms with the fact that I just cannot enjoy literary works of art and I'm a mass market paperback bitch. Even shit written for serialization in the 50s is too highbrow for me.

Can't imagine how this could go wrong. it worked so well for kiss after all

Sony is considering releasing all 4 ‘BEATLES’ biopics on the same day in April 2028. Another idea being considered is offering a 4-pack of tickets to encourage fans to buy tickets to all 4 films at once. (Source: www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...)

dear youtube recs: Just because I have watched videos about table top rpgs doesn't mean I am ever going to be interested in watching critical roll or other live play videos

I've seen these in person and they look phenomenal. I'm sure someone out there can find something fun to do with them.

Take a look at these incredibly sharp Barco 2K monochrome mamography monitors! They're super high res. and very bright. You can pick up the pair for $199.95 at our Kent store.
