Never forget your heroes. I support Ukraine and oppose Israel's idiotic invasion of Syria. Keep your elbows up and our flag high.

This is why the FBI is as ineffective as Saddam's military during the Gulf War. When loyalty becomes the only qualification, all competence gets terminated. This is the America Charlie Kirk wanted.

Scott Horton@robertscotthorton.bsky.social

Used to be, FBI agents swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and laws of the United States. Now they're required to swear fealty to Donald Trump, Kash Patel and Don Bongino. And those caught making critical comments are targets for purge and worse.

When you look at how much of a mess the Charlie Kirk investigation is, it's obvious that another 9/11 is around the corner. America will see what happens when the government suddenly decides to stop doing its job. (BTW, 9/11 was bad.)

Do you know how to lose the American Years of Lead? 1. Shut up 2. Stay home 3. Do nothing 4. Never fight back 5. Insist that the left will lose 6. Stay unarmed Life is about to get a lot worse for the left in the United States, but it doesn't have to stay that way. Resist, America, and rise again.

@edzitron.com has done countless pieces on why "if the product is free, you are the product" doesn't work for AI.

Aaaaand the main business case for consumer LLMs is revealed. It's for gathering data on users, creating profiles, and targeting us with ads and propaganda. Hooray -- it's Web 2.0 with chatbots!

@edzitron.com I'm sorry, but you're underestimating the chances Trump will bail out the AI industry. (Yes, I wrote this myself.) 1. The tech industry is a major faction of the US Government 2. The cost of bailing out the largest AI companies would be pretty low, in comparison to the USG's revenue.

3. Trump doesn't care about his voters. He even decided to take away much of his rural base's hospitals in the last two months. 4. Fiscal constraints won't matter to him unless there's a debt crisis. 5. His fascist voters love AI's destruction of creativity more than they hate bailouts.

I hate to say it, but the world urgently needs ultra-high interest rates ASAP.

Ed Zitron@edzitron.com

1. Well well well if it isn't the blowjob brothers 2. No discussion of costs 3. Cannot be clear enough how hard this becomes to do once the big tech subsidies and VC dollars stop flowing. The current costs are unsustainable and will be increased

@iwriteok.bsky.social Hey, are you still against emigrating? We last talked a few months ago, but the situation in the USA is rapidly deteriorating. In a few months, the Trump Administration will probably chase online influencers, and you could be affected. I still like your stuff, but watch out.

I wonder if Iran's reached the point of no return. Its missile capabilities sustained so much damage that they must be considering closing the Strait of Hormuz. How else could you fight a war when your other weapons were taken from you?

Some analysts suggest that Iran couldn't close the Strait of Hormuz, but the Houthis took control of the Bab-el-Mandeb with a lot less. I think Iran could succeed with a couple of mines and some divers. In 2019, they attacked oil tankers with limpet mines, and they could do it again.

For the record, I think Iran still has a significant chunk of its missile arsenal left, but the use-them-or-lose-them point was yesterday, and the big strikes haven't come yet. So far, Israel thwarted a drone attack, absorbed the first two missile salvos, and suffered a bit more after the third.

Those attacks are wildly underwhelming, and they suggest that the Iranian military is in chaos. The only thing the remnants of its leadership can do now is fire everything it has left, and that includes mining the Strait of Hormuz.

Just the imagine JeM attacking an Indian army base with drones. The kind of attack Ukraine launched today could be replicated by non-state actors, including relatively unsophisticated ones.

Ukraine just carried out what may prove to be the most strategically devastating insurgent attack on military assets in the 21st century, an eighteen month cross border drone infiltration / raid potentially destroying a third or so of Russia's best long range bombers

How much due diligence are they doing for financial products and derivatives? Who will stop another 2008-like financial crisis? Does anyone even care, or do they say nothing until it's way too late? There are so many ways America is going downhill, and it will take the rest of us down too.

Ed Zitron@edzitron.com

So what that's two companies engaged in straight up fraud Microsoft invested in here? How much due diligence are guys like Goldman Sachs and Google doing?
