I am 56. I wander the Earth. I now call Portland, OR, my home. There is so much to explore in life. To the mountains, prairies, and high desert. Across the seas and into the depth of the oceans. Outward to the stars. Full of life and peoples.

The Stream An unending ode To a long winding highway Of a conscience life Here now one begins To express an open view Though the written word Of reality As the pale blue Earth spirals In revolutions The first drop of water Becomes a trickling stream Joining a vast ocean #haiku #poetry 1/n

I am not a lawyer or legal expert, but even I know the DoJ has no standing to sue to stop certification prior to the election.

The Trump administration is preemptively suing to block Alaska from certifying a Mary Peltola victory, should she win. Their argument is that the double Dan Sullivan thing is confusing voters. www.reuters.com/world/trump-...

Astronomy news for spooky season: a zombie planet orbiting a dead (but still hostile) star. Evidence suggests the following: Star dies, expels outer layers, becomes white dwarf. Gas giant forms from the debris. White dwarf is now blasting planet with radiation, shearing off some of its atmosphere.

Atlantic Industrial Coatings, the contractor that renovated the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, admits errors in its own work and flaws in the repair plan, NOT VANDALISM, caused the pool’s blue liner to peel and break loose. Atlantic is being paid $14.7 million. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/11/c...

nytimes.comReflecting Pool Contractor Blames Its Own Repairs, Not Vandals, for DamageThe contractor said the pool’s new blue liner peeled and tore because of “human oversight” and a flawed plan that involved layering two incompatible chemicals, documents show.

More than that, it offers all Americans economic freedom. Medicare for All offers healthcare providers a single source for payments that reduces collection costs to just mere fraction of pennies on the dollar. Under the current system, Americans repeatedly denied critical healthcare..

Corporate spending on elections has already topped $500 million this year. That's one third of the $1.58 billion in total that corporations have spent since Citizens United in 2010. Hawaii and Montana both have plans to neutralize this disastrous SCOTUS ruling. Other states must get on board.

NEW: Months after FCC Commissioner Olivia Trusty cast a decisive vote approving Paramount’s historic $8 billion merger with Skydance Media, she and a guest accepted Kennedy Center gala tickets from the company worth more than $12,000.

Just a reminder that Trump is a rapist. He still owes another $77 million to E Jean Carrol. E. Jean Carroll collects more than $5 million from Trump 3 years after a jury found him liable of sexual abuse and defamation

Hard to support any support any Democratic candidate not on board with disbanding ICE.

BREAKING: BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) - Homeland Security secretary said man killed by ICE in Maine was not the target of warrant, Maine Sen. Angus King says.

Wait. What?

Trump: "The USA will be, from this point forward, known as 'THE GUARDIAN OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT,' but as such, and as a matter of FAIRNESS, will be reimbursed, at the rate of 20% on all cargo shipped, for costs necessary to do the job of providing safety and security ... "

I wonder how many people grasped that Trump was threatening to nuke Iran if they attempted to assassinate him? How else would 1000 missiles destroy all of Iran?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

This is total insanity. Words fail to explain how anyone let alone a plurality of voters thought giving an obviously demented person control of the most powerful government in the world was a good idea. We will be lucky to come out the other side of this alive.

For the billionaires…

It is genuinely heartbreaking to see all of the people losing SNAP benefits. In West Virginia, 14,000 SNAP participants have lost their benefits. In Arizona, it’s 500,000. That’s not a typo. Half a million people in AZ no longer have nutrition assistance. Republicans strike again.

So much for all of the conspiracy theories. 😏

Graham Platner has officially withdrawn from the Maine Senate race, the state’s secretary of state said Friday, submitting the needed paperwork to remove his name from the ballot.

A Norway fan has gone viral for not taking part in their Row celebration after matches and won't do it if they win the World Cup "It’s factually wrong; they didn’t row, they sailed over the Atlantic”

I put $10 down on Kalshi that Trump will veto the bill tonight despite what the media and White House are reporting. It’s Friday and Trump has a penchant be a complete shithead. This would be a classic asshole stunt for him. I hope I am wrong, but I am willing to put up money.

Elizabeth Warren@warren.senate.gov

Donald Trump cares so little about bringing down YOUR housing costs that he’s refusing to sign the biggest housing bill in 30 years. The good news: it’s going to become law anyway.

DSA has less than 500 members in Maine, but sure let’s totally scapegoat DSA and make them bogeyman in this Graham Platner fiasco. 🙄

Dinosaur Bob@dinosaurbob.bsky.social

I should probably update this thread, but Platner was recruited by Maine DSA before ex Fetterman advisors took over.

Dan Moraff and Leanne Fan should never be allowed to work as political consultants ever again. They had one job. Oppo research and vetting are critical to running a successful campaign. Instead they may have destroyed a critical race to help retake the Senate. www.thetimes.com/us/american-...

I am having to quote. But the primary point I was making to Josh and Matt Y is that they were punching left trying to make the “far left” and “DSA” the bogeyman that is hurting the Democrats during the midterm elections. The whole “adjacent” was just odd phrasing.

Stressed_Scientist@wittyretorthere.bsky.social

do with subconsciously accepting an argument like you say. Basically you are just as likely to laugh over "holy crap this guy is insane and makes me uncomfortable" as "wow they make a point I don't like"

Saying we need more “moderate” candidates. When the MSM and political pundits are painting virtually all progressives as “far left”. Just look what is happening with Mamdani. He is demonstrating that progressive policies can work and the MSM is throwing every negative thing at him they can find.

If you use the term “DSA adjacent” to describe people who support progressive policies and try to paint them as bogeyman causing the Democratic Party to lose voters, it’s just going to be automatic block. Half the Democrats base are progressives. Punching left is a losing strategy.
