It boggles my mind how so many people see him as a “strongman”. All he ever does is bitch and complain that nothing’s fair. (Also, Norway doesn’t award Nobel Prizes but he’s an idiot)

There are as many Trump voters in Los Angeles County as there are in Wyoming, Nebraska, and both Dakotas combined.

Trump: "With the war, it's just artificial. It's a little bit high. It's a small price to pay ... let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay."

Beautiful.

You guys want to hear a short but adorable story that happened right in front of me at the baggage claim in NYC yesterday? I wasn't part of it and there are bits I didn't catch but holy crap, I can't stop thinking about it.

Emmer says Republicans need to talk more about grocery prices that aren't expensive: "Eggs are at pre-pandemic prices. Ah, beef is at, ah, less than $2 a pound for ground beef ... I think we have a lot to run on."

I vividly remember loving this moment, the perfect illustration of "befuddlement" told by a simple, motionless cop with his hand on his forehead.

the intro to Batman: The Animated Series is one of the single best bits of storytelling ever done in any medium, an absolute masterpiece of character and atmospheric development achieved in a single minute with no dialogue

just saw a story about the second season of Three-Body Problem coming soon and I mean surely we can come up with a better TV system than "hey remember that thing you watched eight episodes of two and a half years ago? no? you don't? you can't remember the plot or characters at all? well we're back!"

the stretch of Clue where Wadsworth manically recaps the entire night up to the present is some of the best screwball acting you'll ever see, such a tour de force, the whole performance is. he's sinister, wacky, elusive, dignified. andyouhadaletterandyouhadaletterandyouhadaletterandyouhadaletter

Hollywood slowly re-learning that releasing new seasons of shows featuring characters we love to watch on a yearly basis - instead of 7 MEGA-sode drops every few years, maybe - generates a loyal fandom whose consistent, yearly praise becomes free word-of-mouth advertising for future fans.

One of my Facebook memories for today was the S2 drop last year on this day - and here we are again, one year later with the S3 teaser drop... bring it on!

No one had to think super hard about how to make a washing machine useful. A telephone. A vacuum cleaner. So why do our bosses have to constantly challenge us to find something, anything, for which AI might be helpful If your customers don’t find your product useful, that’s a you-problem

In June 2022, only 18 months into Biden's term, inflation and gas prices spiked. According to the GOP, it wasn't the COVID mess Trump left that did it, it was Biden's fault. After all, he was president at the time! In August 2026, 20 months into Trump's term, everything is.... STILL Biden's fault.

Between his love of showtunes and his sneaking out of Air Force One, we're maybe a week away from Trump recreating Gene Hackman's senator making a disguised escape in The Birdcage

A theatre professor I had in college told me a story about Tandy and Cronyn. They were in a play, just the two of them, staged in a small theater somewhere (my brain imagines it a quaint New England town for some reason).... 1/3

Benjamin Dreyer@bcdreyer.social

today's nearly random theater photo: Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn in Triple Play (1959)

The play included a phone that had to ring, so they just used this small theater's box office phone. Someone would call it when the play called for it to ring. At one point, Tandy and Cronyn's characters are arguing, and the phone rings when it shouldn't. Someone was calling the theater! 2/3

It can't be ignored, so finally Cronyn shouts, "Oh, answer the damn phone!" Point, Cronyn. Tandy, brilliant as she was, picks up the phone. "Hello?!" A pause, then holds it out to him. "It's for you!" 3/3

It's crazy there still isn't a 4K bluray of this film. I'd buy the sh*t out of a steelbook or an @arrowvideo.bsky.social-style limited edition.

🚀 35 years later, THE ROCKETEER is still pure cinematic magic. With its gorgeous Art Deco design, soaring James Horner score, and unmatched serial-thriller charm, @remydean.bsky.social thinks it remains a peak in adventure filmmaking. www.framerated.co.uk/rocketeer-19...

My state of Georgia already has pretty strict Voter ID laws. It did in 2020, too, but that doesn't stop Trump and the GOP from screaming FRAUD at the top of their lungs.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Sen. Eric Schmitt says the SAVE America Act has urgency "because we want to get this done in time for it to matter in 2026," and adds that Republicans are discussing defunding blue states if they don't approve voter ID

Here's mine! 4K discs up top, then baseballs, then blurays, then box sets, then another baseball, then DVDs. The Wes Anderson 4K set and WIZARD OF OZ 70th anniversary bluray set down at the bottom, too. #physicalmedia

About physical media and people purchasing books, DVDs, blue rays and CDs again. Finally, there's a positive trend in the internet. Please, keep going on legally owning the things you like. If possible, share it on line. We do need this positivity in this insane world #physicalmedia
