Primary resources help - What's a good set of workbooks to use these days, a bit like an updated version of the old MEP resources? Looking for something that covers all of primary ideally. For extra practice to do at home. Preferably available in physical form!

What resources are put there for Pearson Statistics A-Level? Is there a decent textbook? Has anyone implemented it at their school, if so how is it goingl? #MathsToday #AlevelMaths #UKMathsChat

BREAKING NEWS: New cat species just dropped! 🧪 What is a tilcayo, exactly? Well, it's a small wild cat in the genus Leopardus and a member of the tiger cat species complex, but it is NOT a tigrina, oncilla, kodkod, Geoffroy's cat... www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/arti...

nationalgeographic.comMeet the First New Cat Species Discovered in 100 yearsA small, spotted tiger cat from Bolivia may just be the beginning of a wave of new small cat species.

This inspired me to make something with claude about transformations of the form f(ax+b) Have a play with it here: jammyix.github.io/orderoftrans... (well aware there are many similar versions of this about online with desmos etc, but wanted to see what claude could do)

for combined transformations like f(3x+2) and |3x+2| what's your favourite answer to "do we stretch first or translate first?"

Another early question for new Year 12 FM pupils. This one is intended to show them that mathematics (at A-Level) doesn't really have 'hard' topics, we can make it all 'hard'! #MathsToday #AlevelMaths #UKMathsChat

It’s a small percentage of students who resit more than twice (and should we admire them for their resilience?) - so most of them aren’t on an “endless cycle”

5 a day continues to be one of the best maths resources about IMO

Just started adding the Diamond 5-a-day for KS1 💎🎉 Aiming to have all the sheets (and their answers) added to the website by the end of August (along with the proof reading). corbettmathsprimary.com/5-a-day/ I really hope they will be useful for your students/child.

www.tes.com/magazine/new... All quite vague atm, definitely more detail needed. Would need big amounts of funding for staff, equipment and facilities. And if doing things like sending students to a local FE college who do have the facilities, then FE would obviously need a lot of extra funding too

tes.comNew technical pathways in secondary schools by 2028, PM announcesSchools will be inspected by Ofsted on vocational offering, but sector leaders want more details on multiple aspects of the plans

I think I do agree with it in principle though. I've worked in schools where they did a bit of link up with local FE colleges for some students to go and do more technical stuff for an afternoon a week and it was brilliant for them.

The whole thing about "jobs in the local area" is interesting. I feel like students already do a fair bit of self-selection on this as it is. I worked in a coastal tourist-y area and we always had good numbers of students doing travel & tourism courses for that reason, for example

It was “explain why 3.7 does not round to 3 to the nearest whole number“ and if they put “it rounds to 4 “they got a mark, but if they put it rounds to 4.0 they didn’t

Banger quotes throughout the book: “The fact that there’s a low probability that an AI will be able to do your job doesn’t change the fact that there’s a high probability that an AI salesman will convince your boss to fire you and replace you with an AI that can’t do your job” (65).

Hypothesis Testing with Normal Distribution in #MathsToday Still trying to create structured resources for my Y12s before we get onto them tackling trickier questions so completion tables are almost always the way forward! #AlevelMaths PDF here: chelekmaths.com/a-level/

I don't think the Edexcel A Level Maths paper 1 seemed too bad at all. Certainly not deserving of the petition that has appeared about it! It wouldn't be an exam year without a good petition though

In #ALevelMaths #MathsToday (yesterday actually) we started with this lovely activity that someone shared at the maths conference last year. We went on to look at geometric and matrix proofs of the addition formulae.

The calendar effect always intrigues me. The lottery of birth month has such a huge impact. Born in August, rather than September? Likely to do significantly worse because of how our school system works.
