From SGF to BlizzCon, this summer has been absolutely incredible. I've checked some things off of my bucket list that the 10-year-old version of me watching X-Play and Attack of the Show would literally dream about. Grateful doesn't begin to describe it. What a year (so far.)

finally canceled my CapCut subscription and went all-in on Davinci Resolve

In 2016, we published potentially the largest single feature to ever appear in Game Informer magazine with a full oral history of the legendary studio, BioWare. We've made that feature available online following reports of the studio's impending closure. gameinformer.com/feature/2026...

BioWare is shutting down and EA shared more on the "next chapter" for the company. They'd had plenty of ups and downs - especially recently - but it sucks to see the final nail in the coffin.

Gears of War: E-Day is incredible. Despite a handful of frustrations that keep it from perfection, it's one of the best games you'll play this year.

Halo Studios is all but gone, Activision is leading development on the next Halo game, and the community has a ton of questions about the future. @kevinkoolx.bsky.social and I sat down to talk about Halo's past, present, and where we'd like to see it go in the future.

Bungie shared a behind the scenes look at how they're evolving Marathon for the future. Honestly, I haven't been this excited for the game since pre-launch. Very optimistic for the future - now PlayStation just needs to give them the runway to make some magic happen.

Bethesda shared a memo on Xbox moving Obsidian that actually sounds... good? We won't know fully how these changes affect the games (and teams) for months or years, but so far? This definitely calms some immediate concerns. Actions speak louder than words, though.

Making an extraction shooter and expecting it to reach the mass market was a huge strategic blunder, tbh. This is not a mass market genre, it's one for the true sickos (complimentary). Hopefully they can find that broader audience with these changes. It'll be one hell of a tough road.

I grew up reading EGM, GamePro, and Game Informer. Watching G4, IGN, and Spike TV coverage of big gaming events. Some are still fighting the good fight, like Game Informer, but it's weird seeing the industry that I always dreamed of being a part of start to disappear.

Elgato has been the king of content creator gear for years, but their newest lights actually shocked me. The Key Light Air MK.2 with the new Focus Grid is actually a game-changer for studio lighting. Huge fan! Big thanks to @elgato.com for sending a set my way.

PlayStation is just making some objectively dumb moves this generation for absolutely no reason, no way around it. These are Xbox One-level fumbles going into next-gen.

When the normal people I know hear about GTA 6 and start looking for a console to buy

This GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look was worth the wait. The gameplay is just GTA, but the stories and characters they've got here are just incredible. Leaks can show you how an early build looks, but they can't show you how the whole world comes together. Rockstar's nailing it.

Part of me was sad to miss Gamescom, but I also just walked into my kitchen and threw in a frozen pizza instead of paying 500 shmeckles for a schnitzel or whatever y'all are eating over there in Germany lol
