I swear, i use the For You feed and it's all just people i already follow. is there anyone else on this app?

Was in Waitrose earlier and the couple next to me were discussing the December 2027 use by date on a can of beans, compared to another can with a 2028 use by date.

British Sensibilities of AI: 1) it can only work between 9 and 5, or 10 and 6 Monday to Saturday 2) It'll only work between 12 and 6 on Sundays 3) Some smaller models can work longer hours. 4) Some smaller models won't be able to do things after 11pm depending on the local councils licensing.

These bans deputize random busybodies into hall monitors, replacing communities built by people who contribute with hierarchies ruled by people who have nothing to offer but the power to stop others.

"why doesn't this tech journo know about programming languages" unfortunately, my dear brothers in christ, a tech journalist is just a business journalist who knows the hot keys for copy and paste the job is to talk about consumer products, stocks, and mergers not hash tables and sort algorithms

I'm at Blenheim Palace lol, and christ I do not care at all about it. Is there anything decent in Oxford Town centre? A good restaurant that won't be fully booked (as if) or at least a pub with decent ales or a craft beer focus?

I hate this, i think about it so often but I can't live by it.

Dare Obasanjo@carnage4life.bsky.social

Reading old performance reviews and came across a line - “Dare thinks being correct is more important than convincing people” which at the time struck me as absurd as what’s more important than being right? Over time I learned if you can’t change what work happens then being correct doesn’t matter.

Still looking to trade an u25 The History of Concrete for an over 25s The History of Concrete #lff #bfi

@lffstubs.bsky.social #lff #bfi Looking to Trade: 1 x The History of Concrete U25 ticket 13/10 for a The History of Concrete Over25 ticket. Will pay the uplift.

Ugg kettle seems to be tripping the rcd's so I'm assuming the fuse has blown. Need to get a 13amp this morning or no tea for me today

On a train to Cologne, 1st class is empty and there doesn't seem to be a conductor. Why is everyone just standing in 2nd class? Wake up sheeple

Yo, it's midnight and I need to buy a ticket for your public transport (because it's 2026 and you don't have tap to pay), your ticket machines have an English translation, helpfully, but Google maps is showing the names in German and your ticket machine is showing the names in English.

FYI for folks looking for a good substack alternative :)

Leaflet@leaflet.pub

Leaflet does support subscriptions!! We are rolling it out on the slower side but increasing confidence 👀 DM us and we will turn in on for you! We’re using Stripe, it’s a feature available to everyone, not just paid Pro users AND we charge less than Substack (5% + processing fees)

So Digger is a film about Tom Cruise playing Digger Rockwell in a play about Digger Rockwell? Yeah this movie is going to bomb hard.

With the Strait of Hormuz closed, Iraq has resorted to moving its oil across the desert to Syria in hundreds of tanker trucks, in true Mad Max style. From there, it will be shipped to worldwide markets.

Rather odd request, and a very long story, but do I have any followers in Badajoz 🇪🇸 who could lend me a bike Saturday morning to cycle to Elvas 🇵🇹, buy some Interrail reservations, and then return to Badajoz before a 14:00 train? #LongestTrainEU #CrossBorderRail

I find it weird but indicative of the character of #BlueSky that elsewhere X/Twitter is blowing up with the announcement by Eric Lu of the factorization of #RSA260, a 862-bit RSA key: x.com/penlume/stat... …whilst over here folk are about what it *means* to give money to a Linux distribution.

“It isn’t malfunctioning. It does exactly what I wrote. The problem is I wrote the wrong thing” - Claude to me this morning ~ $2T for a company whose primary product works when it feels like seems extremely misspriced. That said, Claude fails me daily yet I still pay for it so maybe I’m the dummy.

Jerry Falade and Jason Arday are two sides of the same coin: a Black person can’t be this smart, so it must be plagiarism/AI/pick-your-poison. AI will make this worse. Every Black intellectual achievement can be dismissed as Claude/ChatGPT with no evidence while the accused suffers the damage.
