Jason Walker

It's interesting to see Tom call out the Hawks as a definite "Do Something" team at the deadline. Hadn't considered them in that category.

Feels like this song is impossibly more true today than it was when Jackson wrote it 45 years ago.

For the first time in the 40+ years of loving his music, I see the legend, @alyankovic.bsky.social, in concert!

Nice to have all early games for the Hawks!

Alternate Headline: Hollinger Eviscerates Dumars, Pelicans: www.nytimes.com/athletic/645... Pelicans’ trade for Derik Queen shows how much teams were willing to pay on NBA Draft night

Spent the day yesterday in State Farm Arena doing a show, hanging in the media area during the draft, catching up with old friends, and enjoying one whale of an Atlanta Hawks draft.

Really not a fan of the Derik Queen archetype with the Hawks at 13 but would be willing to hear folks out on it. Right now I really think the wings are where it’s at for 13 and a big at 22.

The best TV shows of 2025 so far are a mix of old-school procedurals and adventurous dramas. My picks:

Onyeka Okongwu currently holds the Hawks career franchise records in... - field goal percentage (61.4%) - 2-point percentage (65.5%) - effective FG percentage (63.4%) - true shooting percentage (66.5%)

I wonder what the overlap of NBA fan and Weird Al fan circles are?

After being a fan for over 40 years, and seeing him in person one time (Peaches Records, Orlando, Dare to be Stupid), me and my two youngest are going to see Al in concert for the first time in St Augustine in September!

I think this shows that, dating way back, that a Hawk has to be a no-brainer choice, to be recognized. Also, draft day track record was miserable in the Babcock era.

If we think that the POBO role in the front office would be for talent recruiting, mainly, then the beginning of free agency would be the last logical "deadline" for hiring.

The casual fan might fan it interesting in the note that, in the lead-up to the 2013, the Hawks had the inside track on Giannis, until they fired Larry Drew, and Drew landed in Milwaukee, where he spilled the beans on the Hawks plans. Good times!

Brad low-keys an aspect that many long-time Bird Watchers dreaded, the Hawks own pick landed at 14, meaning they did not trade Cooper Flagg in the Murray deal. Sunk cost, sure. This fan base would have had to wear that around our necks like Michael Phelps wears his gold medals at photo shoots.

I swear the rest of Draft Twitter loves mocking their least favorite fit players to the Hawks just to get them off their boards.

That, due to existing relationships with current stakeholders, he would have been more receptive to the collaboration vibes that already exist there. Alas.

There is only one way to do things with Danny Ferry: Danny Ferry’s way. Guessing that won’t jive with the Resslers.

You bring in Ferry and there will be no doubt who is in charge, for better or worse for those who work there.

Never thought I would pull for Boston, ever, but I will be all in for the C’s if they play this OKC team.

Excellent work from @johnhollinger.bsky.social, who writes earnestly about the Atlanta Hawks, and spares no sharp observations, which is unfortunate if you want to feel any sort of hope about the team's future: ($$$) www.nytimes.com/athletic/629...

The Hawks had one of the all time outside shooters on their team (Jason Terry) and gave him away to Dallas for the remains of Antoine Walker and Tony Delk. And sent a conditional first round pick with him, too! (It didn’t convey). Completely under-discussed. (from @automaticnba.bsky.social)

Looks like the league is set to make the same mistake in the draft with Clayton that they made with Jalen Brunson.

I dont see how risacher isnt the ROTY.

Absolutely incredible, historic, and whatever else superlative you’d like to entertain here: youtu.be/pRBpHaWFd3I?...

Felt like the Gators played in a middle gear the whole half, while TT played at a very high gear.

Just gonna leave this here www.nytimes.com/athletic/623...

Gators have had some wack shots go down early. I’m ok with it.

The only silver lining is that I don’t have any Heat people on my TL on this site.

Getting it out of the way early - respect to them

Watching the Hawks and Gators at the same time right now is a special torture.

Certified Hawks Hater TJ McConnell, that is. (Happy Birthday to him, anyway)

Dyson Daniels is now the 3rd player since the 2000-01 season to record 200+ STL in a season, joining: Chris Paul (2x) in 2007-08 & 2008-09 Allen Iverson in 2002-03

Risacher gets better every game. Legit claim for ROY.

Per Hawks PR, Dyson Daniels is the youngest player in at least 50 years to get to 200 steals in a season. The Hawks have 11 more games after this.

I’ve really enjoyed his rookie season. Surprisingly capable defense all season, and big improvement offensively. But the best has been all the reports of his work ethic, which makes his ceiling even higher.

Ah well, clicked on the box score to see what was happening, looked at the Sixers box:

Ahhhhh…..nothing like changing planes and opening the app to watch your favorite team, only to find you are blacked out in the airport you are traveling through. 😂

@djourn.bsky.social another fun one, using some of my faves 😂
