It is really weird to me that the hashtag is save Mass Effect and not save Bioware... Like I'm sure it is not all the folks involved, but some seem far more interested in saving the IP than saving the studio or the people who worked at it. Fuck Mass Effect, I care more about the culture.

What I'm saying is I do not care about a petition that is likely to acomplish nothing. We need fucking change. We need stronger labour potections in the industry. Saudi money needs to get the fuck away from the industry. We need the press to care about the industry and protecting it.

I do not give a shit about EA making a new Mass Effect. Why is this petition to bring back Mass Effect and not to rally support for the devs? To rally monitary support to allow Bioware to go independent? Why do ya'll only care about the IP and not the people who lost their fucking jobs?

"Alternatively, EA could consider licensing the Mass Effect intellectual property (IP) to another studio that shares the passion and vision to keep it alive and allow it to flourish anew."

"Both solutions offer a way forward. By ensuring the ongoing expansion and enhancement of the Mass Effect universe, EA would not only preserve a cherished piece of gaming history but also continue to contribute to the cultural and emotional impact it has on gamers worldwide." Make toy bigger.

The intentions are the movement are inherently IP focused. Within like three paragraphs of the petion is says to just hire a new studio to work on Mass Effect. So like, ya'll just don't give a shit about the people effected, you just want EA the Saudi and Republican backed to make you a new toy?

I love being reminded that the audience really doesn’t give a shit about the developers. Like, forget that one of the most influential studios in our industry was just executed by its publisher, just make sure the product continues on the assembly lines!

After hearing news of BioWare's closure on Wednesday, over 75,000 Mass Effect fans have signed a petition demanding that EA put another studio in charge of the franchise or license out the IP. https://bit.ly/4siIubW

you can't judge when bioware was really killed because the mismanagement at the higher level under EA has been so constant and pervasive since the acquisition at every stage that every game shipped at all was a herculean miracle

It is bat shit that the SECOND dot point in the report to end anti-semitism in schools is limiting pro-Palestine imagery. Antisemitism is obviously a problem, it needs more attnetion, as does hate crimes against Muslims. But making that the second or any point just reveals what your intent is

Ask your favorite devs, ask your favorite influencers why they're still covering Microsoft games. Its been disheartening to see so many people I respect not even pay lip service to BDS at a minimum. Even Nextlander who did seem to care about BDS recently covered that new WOW thing.

So I think everyone understands this already, but this is basically a euphemism for "we're hiring fewer full time employees and more contractors and codev studios because we don't have to pay them as much." I wish I could say this was an isolated case but I'm seeing it p much everywhere.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer was made by a core team of 75 people. "What we wanted to do was keep that core small, smaller than perhaps you might have done in the past, and scale capacity and capability with what we call distributed development." https://bit.ly/4hT02qg

I do think the multiple choice dialouge system in Resonant is a problem. Giving Dylan's characterisation to the player is one thing I don't like, but also ocasionally you miss out on the better dialouge or on plot important info.

Theres a convo with Jesse at the midpoint I just saw for the first time in a stream. It massively clarifies some late plot stuff I did not understand BECAUSE I was missing crucial context.

So, the plan as of today is, it'll be illegal to watch porn, you have to get a license to watch youtube and trans people won't be allowed medical aid but instead left to bleed to death on the steps of A&E. It's days like this which just make you so proud to be a citizen of Piss Island

Man, aw the folk saying Burnham was gonna turn things around really had to eat shit in record time. The libs are gonna have to be quick on the keyboard for the next PM cause that guy is gonna break land speed records for doing a fascism

Yesterday, Wizards informed us that it doesn’t intend to voluntarily recognize the D&D or Studio X units of our union ahead of a vote. We remain committed to creating a workplace focused on wellness, transparency, and collaboration by winning our coming election.

I am almost certain the story DLC for Fortune's Weave isn't going to be a complete implamentation of the four cut paths. If I had to guess, I imagine it'll just be a few levels for each with no free time segments. Which I'd be pretty happy with.

I’m 40 hours in, early on in my third route and honestly I’m a bit burnt out and kinda just want to enter the end game. So the idea of them adding four more routes sounds like an awful idea.

It's kinda funny watching a few game journos who continue to cover Xbox praising House House for following BDS. Like mother fuckers, learn from their example and stop this shit. Especially the independent ones. I get if you work for Gamespot you kinda have to follow editorial, but GVG don't

It is hard to picture a world in which Tim Schafer "accidentally" laid off specifically every person in his company who had led a Unionization effort or supported it. Very tough to imagine that being an accident, and kind of fatally sabotages Tim's "good guy" vibes.

Just announced, CAPTAIN MARVEL by G. Willow Wilson and Rachel Stott! Wilson is calling in! #captainmarvel #nycc #nycc2026

I swear one of the major reasons Mike Flanigan moved from Netflix to Amazon was because Netflix refused to air Midnight Mass weekly and then Carrie just comes out in one day? Make that make sense?

Ran my first session of Mothership last night. I was very rusty cause I haven't ran anything in months, but it went alright I think. Some growing pains with the system, but I'm getting a hold of it and I really like the Stress and Panic systems. One player got up to 10 Stress, it owned.

Running Mothership tomorrow for the first time after having not run anything in a LONG time and honestly really struggling. I'm trying to plan and overwhelmed by just how little mechanically I have to plan for and also really struggling finding assets, to the point where I might have to go minimal.

Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave. A game thats age rating allows it to have no sex, but I just heard maybe the worst inuendo ever.

I am currently playing through Control Resonant in New Game+ and still loving it. I have small and big gripes, but the strength of all the parts together overwhlem a lot of my criticisms. I think the final fight and ending are very weak and Courtney Hope is royaly under used, but so much works.

If this game does get DLC, I really hope it lets you play as Jesse before and during the events of Resonant. The idea of her having Bayo lite combat where she's doing pysical attacks mixed in with the Service Weapon would own. Also I hope DLC expands the Oldest house into the research sector again

If we get two DLCs like with the OG and AW2, my dream DLCs would be. 1. Dylan DLC where he works with Estevez whose either in NW or talking through a Threshold as he explores the Oldest House. 2. Jesse prequel before Resonant that leads into her jounrey in Resonant.

A note on that Kotaku piece about the city exploration being a slog in Control Resonant. You can look at that headline, go "well it didn't feel like that for me", close the page you saw it on, and move on with your day. You are not required by law to post about it and mock the writer. Be an adult.

Honestly the reaction to Burnham's 'vibes' really sticks in the craw when he's clearly made a strategic decision that the winning strategy on trans people is to never talk about it and hope it all goes away. Leaving us in a state of permanent fear of lawfare and abuse and enormous waiting lists.

Ed Miliband out here being like "Oh no we're pretty sure the military equipment we're giving to the Nazi's isn't being used in their war effort". I cannot stand every liberal lining up to give him and Andy a pat on the back for doing nothing. We are still complicit in the genocide.

every discussion of comic book adaptations needs to start from the baseline assumption that comics are the superior medium. something will always be lost in translation. if you can't be humble enough to admit this, you'll be chasing shadows in the labyrinth for the rest of your natural life.

Control- Man This Dr Darling guy is a funny dude! Look at him dance! Hope this doesn't take a dark turn. Control Resonant- Oh no.

Darling being the worst was always there, but its a bit easier to miss if you don't read up on him or pay atention to his actions in the first game. In the second it feels like the writers were like "hey so we fucked up. People keep calling him baby girl so we need to go the other direction"

The charm from the first game is still there. Its not like they made him a different character or person. Who you see in Resonant is consistant with who he is in Control, you just see him more without the facade this time. He's deeply human. Just alsoa human I very much want to kill.
