Not saying this map with very welcome very good news is *complete* bullshit, but can anyone explain how Heathrow somehow reduced its aeroplane emissions at a very very similar amount as the car emissions that were reduced specifically because of the Ultra Low Emission Zone?

This post is unavailable.

Wouldn’t it be easier (and less distracting) just to tell the traitors “please don’t wear watches” instead of blurring out all their watches in the edit?

Legoland, 2007: Boss: “Bad news, lads. The enormous lego model of the Eurostar terminal at Waterloo in lego London with little trains going to lego Paris has gone out of date.” Model railway guy: “On it…”

Excellent news that this is a thing! So so many brilliant people in this!!!

Some big news I've been waiting SO LONG to talk about!! I made a feature film! It's a fun, silly heartfelt comedy with entirely improvised dialogue. Myself and the wonderful Briony Redman and Richard Soames have been working on it for four years. It's a lifelong dream come true. Here's the poster:

Happy to be wrong about this. Thanks for all the replies. Turns out, the name change isn’t actually *official* yet. So it’s hard to see Google rushing to change their maps as anything other than enthusiastic support for Trump. Pathetic all round.

Blaming Google Maps for going along with Trump’s pathetic Lake America name change is like blaming your phone for displaying it.

This took me ages to realise too. And that might be because I grew up in, what turns out, according to this map, to be the ONLY part of the country (north west London) where roads can begin with pretty much any number.

I was today years old when I learned that the UK's numbering system for A and B-Roads is based on zones and is not random. (Explains why the two major ones near me are the A2 and A20). Map credit: @roads.org.uk More about how the zones work: brilliantmaps.com/a-and-b-r...

How come this place on the eastern extremity of Catalunya with flat land, a nice river, excellent access to the Mediterranean and a really satisfying very very long gently curved beach that would be an excellent tourist hotspot is NOT the location of a massive city?

But… just checking… if you DON’T have perfect pitch, this video is completely pointless, right? *By the way, I wish the words “perfect pitch” didn’t sound so much like showing off.

An analogy… Imagine a world where everyone else apart from you had trouble working out which way up a painting was supposed to hang. You just know where the top is, cos that’s just what it looks like. If it was on the wonk, it would look different/interesting/wrong to you. But no one else cared.

This is sort of fascinating but also sort of meaningless. This is actually a map showing which countries consider suburbs to be part of their cities. Hence Britain having “2” and Australia having “5”.

How Many Cities Over 1 Million People Does Each Country Have? Sort of crazy that Canada and Australia have more than the UK. Or that Russia has more than the US. Full list: brilliantmaps.com/cities-ov...

The words “losing my religion” appear in the song Losing My Religion only twice, buried in the verses. If you didn’t know that’s what the song was called, you’d never guess that’s what the song was called.

Catchier potential song titles than ‘Losing My Religion’… I Said Too Much That’s Me in the Corner I Think I Thought I Saw You Try Just a Dream The Plinky Plunky Mandolin Song

PLEASE SHARE THIS To the young person (longish dark hair, patterned waistcoat, chinos & DM boots) who left this scroll of papers on the Piccadilly Line train at South Kensington station at about 4.25pm today, I’ve handed it to the station staff at Hammersmith.

Short looping portrait videos with big chunky one-word-at-a-time subtitles might be absolute brain rot destroying our attention spans and ability to regulate dopamine and might be responsible for an irreversible enstupidification of our species… But they’re reeeeally good for learning a language!

It's safe to assume that all major LLMs are scraping Bluesky data to train future models. As an open protocol, Bluesky is one of the few sources of fresh human-generated content that anybody can gobble up. So all this is probably going in the models. There are submarines in the Great Lakes.

Took me 35 years since I first heard the Gaston song to suddenly notice the incredible internal rhyme hidden in “as a specimen, yes I’m intiiiiiiiimidaaaaating”
