Oops it's a bit late but I realised I forgot to give a shout out to @triaxeminitures.bsky.social for their suggestion here! 🙏

I feel like I eventually do so many passes with airbrush, that the brush underpainting technique is a waste. In any case, I'm usually happy with my skin tones, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Nevertheless, highlighting specific anatomy was something new I've tried here 👍

Day 13B: Lara (60mins) Airbrush backpack dark brown from below, light from above. Brush painted triangle panel in brown. Black on top panel. For other parts: nuln oil - it gives great leather finish. Left mesh pockets alone. W so much brown on model, important to play with textures and finish.

Day 12: Lara (90mins) Airbrushed brown + brown/black over whole boot: gave the different hues some much needed cohesiveness. I then did silver detailing again. Painted laces in black. Then heavy handed wash in nuln oil, which I knew would look leathery. #hobbystreak #garagekit #modelmaking

Day 10B: Lara (60min) With brush now - I did another layer of silver on details, and tidied up overpainting with brown (Pic 1). I then tried some thin washes diluted in nuln oil +water. Black wash on some panels = good. Awful green on straps = bad 🤮 (Pic 2) will need to fix! #hobbystreak #gk

Day 9A: Lara (45min). Used brush to apply primer (1:1 thinner) around periphery of sanded area. Then air brushed (1:1) ~5 thin coats over area + light coat over rest of the piece. V happy that I got away with sanding back and re-priming! 😊 See before/after pic. #hobbystreak #3dprinting #craftsky

Day 7: Lara (30min) Am pretty useless today as have picked up a bad cold, but I did a little: Used a toothpick to work the resin along the head/neck seam & cured with UV. 2 coats, wiping with IPA in between. Also used resin to patch minor print defects in legs. #hobbystreak #3dprinting #art

I haven’t posted much. I had to finish my piece for Bulkamancer’s contest.😅 In the end the cel-shade/anime style experiment kinda worked out. I had a lot of trouble with it. All the time until the end it all felt wrong. And there is still a lot to improve on. 😖 #Nerdlings #anime #Oni #miniPainting

Day 6: Lara (5min) I was brave and glued her face to torso 😭 I hadn't planned to do this until AFTER all painting was done, but I knew I wouldn't be able to unsee the seam in her neck... Next step will be using UV resin to fill and hide seam. #hobbystreak #garagekit #3dprinting #laracroft
