Baris Weiss does not aim to speak truth to power. She aims to use power to silence truth. That is the very opposite of journalism.

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

when critics of bari weiss say that she is not a journalist, we mean that literally. she does not respect or even appear to understand the values of the profession. everything for her is propaganda. www.semafor.com/article/10/1...

“The Nobel Prize committee has lost its moral compass,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office in a statement on social media. Bibi knows a thing or two about not having a moral compass.

No doubt well deserved, but if the Nobel Committee were actively trying to troll Trump, they could not have made a choice better suited for that purpose

Will it supply steel to the Foxconn plant in Wisconsin?

Micah@rincewind.run

dude you can’t address the entire nation just to announce a steel mill in iowa we can smell the flop sweat from here

I can't comment on your post, @musicologyduck.bsky.social, but I agree with you. Also, the National Guard who are on the street are not there by choice. Many know that them walking around DC is dumb. Shouting at them won't change anything. Ignoring them as they ignore is the best bad option

For the record: NOPE. Honestly, I don’t think there’s an issue today I care about on a personal level more deeply than trans rights. And it’s rough out there right now. Bigots on one side of the political aisle and too many cowards on the other. ⬇️

If they'd put the screwworms on the blockchain, they wouldn't have been able to get into the country in the first place.* *I confess that I really don't know what the blockchain is, even though I have read descriptions of it many times.

Julian Sanchez@normative.bsky.social

I’m sure the blockchain can also be involved somehow

@kenwhite.bsky.social, based on your experience, is it good if the judge brings up Rule 11 when ordering you to respond to a motion under Rule 60 that didn’t even discuss Rule 11? Seems maybe not good

BREAKING: As I predicted yesterday, Judge Williams has now ordered Trump, his two failsons, and the Trump Organization LLC to respond to the below former federal judges’ motion to reopen case on or before June 12th.

Kneelin', looking through the paper though he doesn't know to read, ooh yeah Oh, prayin', now to something that has never showed him anything

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene Please don't take him even though you can

Vance appears to be confusing science with philosophy. As Dr. Mack notes, in science you need to put forward evidence

Katie Mack@astrokatie.com

You can disagree and argue as much as you like but the point of evaluating something scientifically is that not every statement should be given equal credence because evidence matters

This is good advice.

Truly wild to think that this is already my biggest platform ever, but thanks to all of you who are following me here. I hope I make it worthwhile — and, at times, fun! More broadly, I also hope that we remember (myself included) that we are people here (except the bots) and engage accordingly.

This is exactly right. There is no reason for Cook to sue. The letter has done nothing. In her lawsuit, tho, the court may assume the letter is valid, refuse to enjoin Trump, and find instead that she is out of the job pending the litigation. This is what has happened in other recent cases

The implication is that the rest of the Board is accepting her firing, and that she has been removed. Not good. The better strategy would be to continue work as normal and make Trump get an order removing her.

Let’s not forget that all Colombia asked was that the United States commit that deported persons will be treated humanely. That is what Trump is refusing to do, and why he is slapping tariffs on Colombia

You are up to date.
