I've spent the last 8 months traveling to 20+ states, talking to young people about how they see their economic futures. I wrote about my findings. Gen Z faces a double disruption: (1) AI-driven technological change + (2) institutional instability. kyla.substack.com/p/gen-z-and-...

Per the latest @dkthomp.bsky.social article: Every drink of alcohol takes 5 minutes off your life But every one minute of exercise adds 5 minutes to your life This is why I diversify
Evidence is growing that both CUD and cannabis-induced psychosis increase the risk of schizophrenia. High potency cannabis products increase the risk even more.
As cannabis products like vapes, shatter, and dabs have reached near 100% potency, lawmakers, researchers, and doctors have sounded the alarm about a potential public health crisis.

Fascinating paper by Claudia Goldin on drivers of low fertility in advanced economies. Countries where economic progress outstrips social progress (in particular, gender equality in household division of labour) see the most rapid falls in fertility.. www.nber.org/papers/w33311
We need EV minivans
The real crazy thing about Cybertruck is the opportunity cost. It's not just that Tesla built an obvious piece of garbage that only appeals to the maybe 100,000 worst Americans alive, it's that they invested in this instead of improving the core lineup with like a large family hauler or cheap hatch.

Did you see this? 7 blocks in downtown Houston are going to be permanently transformed into a people-place and pedestrian promenade. From Rusk Street to Allen’s Landing Park. No trial or pilot. Not seasonal. Permanent. If Houston can do it, what’s your city’s excuse? www.bisnow.com/houston/news...
“Rules of thumb” for Psychiatry: 1) building therapeutic alliance via empathic statements is both diagnosis and treatment
A take of mine is that any domain expert should have 3-4 “rules of thumb” that they can provide to a lay person to explain the high level basics of how their field works in 10 minutes or less. If you can’t do that you’re not really an expert in your field.

First Hill has prob become one of the most diverse with the housing of East African immigrants in the new apts
in 1990 seattle grabbed swaths of land to upzone hoping to create 100k homes. the debate that upzones cause displacement is a myth. over the next 30 years, the black population cratered in single family zoned areas and grew where housing growth was allowed. density has saved our city’s diversity
For decades, if not centuries: here's a simple breathing technique that can calm you down Scientists: let's make a pill that will somehow target a specific circuit in our most complex organ www.seattletimes.com/nation-world...
