9 years ago today, my buddy Craig Johnson was shot by Bonner County Sniper Shawn Deem, killing him. Since that day I have advocated for police accountability. This past week I was appointed to the Spokane Office of Police Ombudsman Commission. Today I enjoyed my annual cigar in Craig’s memory.

Today is September 25th. It is 11:09 am. In less than 24 hour it will be the moment that my buddy, Craig Johnson will be shot in the back twice and killed by the Bonner County Sheriff’s department 9 years ago. A lot has happened since then. I wish I could go back in time and warn him.

I uh… well… we are a bit hairy, but to call us animals???

Tommy Tuberville: Many airline pilots, flight attendants, and air traffic controllers are part of the furry community. It's terrifying.

The Oregon Gathering of the Eagles is happening this month, Sept 18-19. The keynote speaker is Tina Peters who was convicted of criminal election tampering when she tried to overturn the 2020 election results. Trump tried to pardon her but couldn't with the state conviction.

At today’s Spokane County Commissioners meeting, the SCSO asked for $80,564.22 for 72 ballistic vests. Documentation provided simply states that the sheriff had a need. No explanation as to why the sheriff needs these vests was provided. The commissioners approved the request.

The Spokane County Commissioners limited public comment for public comment regarding their opposition to data centers. Then they allowed Commission French to pontificate at great length about the greatness of data centers.

Middle of the afternoon, I’m walking from River Park Square in Spokane. There’s a skywalk system that’s supposed to make getting around downtown easier. Except, once again, the skywalk was locked.

And this isn’t just an inconvenience. It becomes a safety concern. If you’re directing people through a building and skywalk system, there needs to be a clear, accessible way out.

Trying to find my way to a ground-floor exit in the Crescent Building was surprisingly challenging. Downtown infrastructure should be accessible, predictable, and safe. Locked doors and dead ends shouldn’t be part of the experience.

Middle of the afternoon, I’m walking from River Park Square in Spokane. There’s a skywalk system that’s supposed to make getting around downtown easier. Except, once again, the skywalk was locked.

So I walked a couple of blocks, entered another building, and eventually found myself in a dead building at a dead end, with the doors locked. Seriously, either lock all the doors or open them.

Pretty thin evidence for Nowels to be claiming they caught the arsonist. They refer to him as a suspect but make it sound like he was already tried. Maybe he did it. Maybe he didn’t. But the comments on social media already convicted him and are calling for execution. Feels irresponsible of Nowels.

This post is unavailable.

I’d also like to point out that when Nowels’ own deputies beat or kill innocent people, Nowels never gives out this much detail on an investigation, especially so fast. Our society is eager to throw away the judicial process when it feeds their emotions.

The Spokane community is really stepping up to look after our friends and neighbors during these devastating fires. Here are just some of the resources available to help. Please share this information with anyone who might need it.

spokesman.comNot just shelter: Where to get free childcare, meals, showers and more as wildfires ravage SpokaneMany agencies and groups are offering free help for people affected by the wildfires raging throughout the Spokane area.

Thank you to all the fire crews, law enforcement, medical staff, contract crews and everyone else that has been working these fires. We appreciate you! This was yesterday by the Downriver Golf Course.

While out on a stroll today I ran into Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth. I asked if I could take their picture. They stood next to each other and put their arms around their waists like they weee snuggling.

Colorado prosecutors decide to charge ICE security contractor with murder in the second degree and assault for murdering a protester outside the ICE concentration camp in Aurora, CO. Apparently he thought as an ICE agent, he had a license to kill. Does Markwayne have anything to say about this?

What is sad is that this seems pretty obviously to be a mental health issue and it is not being addressed at all. This is a failure of our society and our government. It is also a failure of @StarsandStrips.bsky.social for not addressing it. I feel bad for this young soldier. Meanwhile, Trump…

We are enjoying a weekend in Leavenworth for my amazing wife’s birthday. Drove up to Lake Wenatchee. Did some hiking. We are lucky that we seem to be in a smokeless area. The kids told us Spokane is socked in. Tomorrow we paddle the Wenatchee River.

Interested in how leopard slugs mate? Well here are two in my yard having a romantic evening. Did you know that leopard slugs have both male & female parts? Those thing you see in my pictures are their penises. They exchange semen and then pull their bits back into themselves. Nature is amazing!

There once was a time that the government hid the bad things that they did so we wouldn’t find out and hold them accountable. Now the government doesn’t even try to hide the bad things because they know we can’t hold them accountable. They aren’t afraid of us anymore. We are afraid of them.

I don’t know anyone who thinks fire season isn’t a big deal. In the Pacific Northwest, we take fire season extremely seriously. I used to fight fires while working for a helicopter company back in the 90s. It’s dangerous work and we knew it.

I’m truly astounded that everyone’s like oh yeah fire season and fire weather is a thing now like it’s no big deal.

I am so grateful for my family. Father’s Day reminds me how lucky I am. My kids are amazing! It also makes me think of 16-yo Aiken Smith and his family who lived in Kellogg, Idaho and were murdered on Father’s Day 3 years ago by a horrible neighbor. Hug your family and hold them close. ❤️

Trump’s Justice Department is indicting 15 Minnesotans on charges of conspiracy to impede or injure a federal officer, using vague Facebook posts and using anti-ICE tactics—many of which are legal, like observing—as grounds to deem them “antifa.” trib.al/TeP71SA

The federal government right now is indicting and convicting people who disagree with our government and have dissenting opinions. They’re negating your 1st and 4th amendment rights! And that should be of great concern to everyone.

Spokane, why even have skywalks if they are locked up most of the time? It seems that every time I try to use the skywalks I find locked doors or dead ends. #Spokane #UselessConvenience

Dump Trump. He is not fit to be a leader and he is not fit to be president. He has embarrassed our nation and torn the United States apart. Don’t allow him to destroy us further.
