Armed with the knowledge that African Elephants perceive human beings in a way that's isn't dissimilar to human beings perceive dogs really makes you wonder about the experience those animals had during the Second Punic War. That is an experience reality can generate. Be happy with your life.

To understand these people, you have to acknowledge that they are operating under the presupposition that homosexuality is contagious. It's the reason christofacist evangelicals in America lose their minds regarding gay folk teaching in public schools.

Catholic Cardinal says the next pope must move against homosexuals because church doctrine has to be based on what Jesus said. Only problem? Jesus never said one single word about homosexuality. Or abortion. www.joemygod.com/2025/04/card...

The Fallout series follows a nearly identical trajectory to The Elder Scrolls. Created in 1997 by Tim Caine, who is notably not Todd Howard, the og title remains an extremely difficult recommendation.

Fallout 2 made enormous improvements in QOL and accessibility but was heavily criticized at the time for introducing the wackier elements of the series that it is now lauded for. This is my favorite because the best Fallout game is the one you played first.

Bethesda's first entry into the series Fallout 3, while wildly popular at the time of release it was also heavily criticized for its near identical mechanical similarity to Oblivion. I liked it, but I understand why others wouldn't.

The original UI is extremely dated, the rng mechanics are fickle, and it is nearly impossible to emulate on modern computer hardware. But what sets it apart is its utterly stark brutality in tone and atmosphere. It's unique in media for FEELING like a forlorn apocalypse that's difficult to describe

Nobody could ever accuse Todd Howard of being bad at his job. He's an outstanding businessman who has made Bethesda an enormous amount of money, but he's not an artist in any way, shape, or form. The Elder Scrolls were created by Julian Lafey. This is why each iteration of the game is less complex.

But the time we get to Skyrim, however, you're dealing with a fundamentally different experience. It's a wildly popular and beautiful skinner box that is completely lacking the nuance of the original titles.

If you're wondering why Starfield was a joyless mess while the Oblivion remake is enjoying a popular moment. This is why. Todd Howard can't create art. His career has been spent coasting on someone else's creation.

Most of you have never played Daggerfall, and I don't blame you, it's UI is completely inaccessible to all but the dorkiest of retro gamers. But if you manage to break through it, you'll find a hyper ambitious incredibly intricate fever dream of a title.

It's the only thing that works. The problem with Jon Stewart is that his whole bit is trying to talk authoritarians out of being authoritarian with clever reasoning and articulate debate. But that doesn't work. You have to mock them.

My favorite genre of literature is Baby Science Fiction Written By Someome Who Was Clearly on Drugs. Those later Dune novels are just Frank Herbert actively losing his mind from amphetamines while playing a type writer like a percussion instrument.

You can not convince me that RFK Jr. isn't wearing a mask of his own face. He was clearly involved in some kind of a Darkman-esque laboratory accident, and that's how he chose to cope rather than becoming Liam Neeson.

I started doing old people exercise classes because I thought it was be fun and kitschy to be the youngest person in the room only to realize to my shock and horror that I am in fact old enough to have voted for John Kerry.

I am seeing Millennials start to post things like “You can’t scare us, don’t mess with us, you don’t know who you’re dealing with, we survived 2008!” and no. No. Absolutely not. We are not doing “we drank out of garden hoses” posts like a bunch of Xers. Have some pride, for heaven’s sake.
