I'm quite in love with this script that lets you absolutely break FX and synths in #reaperDAW by randomizing every knob at once. Script is called mpl_Randomize Track FX parameters Synth is Pendulate by Newfangled Audio

Quite enjoying this built in non-destructive spectral repair in the newer versions of #reaperdaw. One less thing I have to use RX for. Works for time selections and razor edits too. > Sample edits: Spectral repair sample values in time selection for all channels at mouse

Had a dream that there was a creature living under the sidewalk that would show you its den in exchange for one pebble, a bit of mortar, and a wild rose.

Can't believe I never noticed the action called "File: Spawn new instance of REAPER". It just opens another window so that you can work on multiple projects (and copy-paste between them) in split-screen. Will make integrating pickups a lot faster. #reaperdaw

Oooh and @jeffemtman.com and I are speaking at this too! But you can skip that if you’re a person of excellent discrimination and taste!

Today is the last day to register for in-person attendance at NarraScope. (Online membership will stay open for another few weeks.) June 12th-14th,
University at Albany, NY narrascope.org/register/ Got a great schedule up, starting with keynote speakers Meredith Gran and Sharang Biswas.

Genuinely flattered that the kind folk at Klankverbond put a picture of me babbling about sound design on their website. Klankverbond is a really unique org that supports independent audio folk in Belgium. If you're doing audio in Belgium, join them! www.klankverbond.be

I think Linear Phase EQ is kind of overhyped. But the one place i often use it is for checking my adjustments. Flip into linear mode for a moment to see if the high pass is negatively affecting the voice. Easy to hear it with the delta solo option in Reaper. You'll hear only what's changed.

This trick doesn't work in minimum phase eq (what pro-q calls "zero-latency") because of the phase shifting inherent to the at approach. Other than this "auditioning the eq shifts" trick though, I'll leave the linear phase eqs to the folk mixing drum sets or whatever.

New Neutrinowatch episode is out. Also come watch us (@martinaustwick.bsky.social) perform at Podfest tonight! www.podfestberlin.com/2025-festival

Ello! Top lad @jeffemtman.com just published a new episode of Neutrinowatch! "Best of the Manosphere" is a daily distillation of all the best bits of your favourite manpods into a wonderful piece of art. It's the idea-summarizing, trailblazing, time-saving game-changer! pod.link/1567632084/e...

Reading the changelog for #reaperdaw 7.43 and five things caught my eye as someone who uses the Reaper mostly for sound design and podcast editing. (1/8)

"add option to move or not move take envelope points when moving media item contents" This is huge for sound design, where sometimes you want item envs to move with the content and sometimes you want them to stay put. Seen here with volume env, first with old behavior, then with new. (7/8)

"when rendering to a lossy format like mp3 or ogg, calculate normalization and statistics based on the format-encoded signal...." Reaper's render norming worked well for lossless, but lossy formats result in slight changes to loudness due to compression. This fixes that. (5/8)

"support importing .adl (AES-31) project files" Every once in a while, I'll work with a client who does a first pass of the audio in a DAW that uses or supports ADL session files. Now instead of converting this with AATranslator, I can open these files directly. Neat. (6/8)

Previously razor editing only worked for item envelopes (shown first with volume envs). Now, it also works for item envs (shown second with item pan envs). (3/8)

"add actions to remove unnecessary points" Some editing workflows can lead to a lot of envelope points that are effectively doing nothing. A new custom action removes these points: "Envelope: Remove unnecessary points" Here I've made a button for it, but it's accessible in the actions list. (4/8)

"allow editing track envelopes in media lane, media item take envelopes similarly to track envelopes" Razor edits give the ability to select manipulate time/items/envelope points and in non-contiguous areas simultaneously. But the doing it in item envs wasn't previously possible. (2/8)

Anyone have little-known mixing plugins they swear by? The one I'm reliant on is Voice Of Snow, which is a GUI-less free plugin that separates sound into its noisy and tonal parts. Can instantly add or remove texture. www.kvraudio.com/product/voic... #mixing #audioproduction #sounddesign
