A little over a week from Election Day, and I hate that when I voted early, the choice was so simple. I’m not a lifelong Democrat. I would love to be in position to carefully weigh the nuances of policy and character among candidates seeking to serve citizens. (Thread)

Unfortunately, we don’t have that. The GOP today, across the board, is putting up loyalists to party and PACs. It’s lies, personal attacks, and mad libs stupidity, calling the most middle-of-the-road candidates socialists and communists who want to turn kids trans.

I want our choices to be difficult. I want to see a multitude of palatable options. I want it to be harder than vote blue no matter who. But until the GOP has something more to offer than chaos and cruelty, that’s where we are. We need a wave massive enough to wash them all out.

Early in-person voting in Ohio complete. And I’m proud to have my son voting for the first time today. If you haven’t voted yet, make your plan today to make sure your voice is heard.

Last week was wonderful for me on professional and personal levels. But I’m happy to be back serving where I can this week. I did local canvassing yesterday, and today was back to writing club, delivering insights and cookies for the high schoolers. It feels good to do my part.

Ramaswamy has in the past shown plenty of disdain for human hardships. Parading an abusive, r*pe-enabling biological parent out to attack Amy Acton is just one more instance of a man showing he will not slow his personal ambition to give a damn for others. He is no leader.

In Ohio, attack ads that support the Ramaswamy campaign and the Turner campaign against @amyactonoh.bsky.social and @knickerbockeroh.bsky.social, respectively, rely on two things: big outside money and infantilizing strong women. In doing so, they show disdain for hard-working Ohioans. (Thread)

So why do Vivek and Mike want to diminish these women? Because neither has the strength or service record of their opponents. Neither has faced real adversity. And both, after only the weeniest of lip service to standing up to Trump, have bent the knee at every opportunity.

So maybe, absent any real strength of character between them, they simply can’t recognize it enough to respect it. I hope Ohioans can see what they are incapable or unwilling to see.

Both are medical professionals: Acton is a medical doctor focused on public health and preventative medicine, while Knickerbocker is an oncology nurse practitioner. In contrast, Vivek made a fortune on a failed Alzheimer’s drug, and Turner has helped raise your health care costs.

Acton was thrust into the spotlight in the impossible Covid years, and is now being attacked for following the leading medical guidance to try to protect Ohioans—guidance red and blue states alike tried to follow. Knickerbocker is a 10-year military veteran.
